These people are desperate. They have been told so many different stories from this administration, that they don't know the truth (it changes all of the time). Some are deported, many get to stay, it's just a matter of if we have room to house and process them (we rarely do anymore). The Border Patrol has gone from trying to secure the border, to trying to keep these people alive. Trump was/is an ass, but he was a consistent ass, and these people knew where he stood. Now they just plan on crossing the border and playing the odds they won't get deported. Our local border towns don't have the resources to handle these people. Then the state of Texas will scoop some up and send them to "sanctuary cities" up north. Of course, those mayors scream about too many immigrants and not enough resources, proving they were sanctuary cities in name only, and never really wanted to do more than talk about giving sanctuary to these people. And through all of it, all these people want to do is work their asses off to support themselves and their families. But like the rest of us, they are just pieces to be played on politicians chess boards.

I don't think it's getting worse, I think we have better abilities to know what's going on.

The main stream media is trying to pivot and give us more real news, as they are losing viewers to other sources. Government officials can't bull shit us as much.

More crap is being laid bare and more lights are shining on the darkness.

sanctuary city

NOUN

(in North America) a city whose municipal laws tend to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation or prosecution, despite federal immigration law:

New York city proclaimed itself a sanctuary city years ago, when there weren't that many immigrants needing sanctuary.

Fast forward to yesterday, and the governor of NY said this the migrants seeking sanctuary.

They’re literally from around the world. West Africa, South and Central America — they’re coming from all over. But we have to let the word out that when you come to New York, we’re not going to have more hotel rooms. We don’t have capacity. So we have to also message properly that we’re at our limit. If you’re going to leave your country, go somewhere else. But the smarter thing is to apply for asylum before you leave your country, and then you’ll have a different experience when you arrive. But we’re just trying to deal with the crises we have right now. We need to get people out of the shelters and into jobs.

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul to Migrants: ‘If You’re Going to Leave Your Country, Go Somewhere Else’ (msn.com)

Per as usual, the pander to the useful idiots and have no plans on how to accomplish what they promise to do.

What does one think of the suggestion that the main cause of the mass migration is US & Western foreign policies (military, economic, trade).   Why is Mexico and many Latin American countries so unstable - this is America's back yard or neighborhood.    America has been a superpower since the end of WWII at least with a global influence both economically, militarily and in terms of soft power and it has been suggested that America have meddled in these countries - destabilizing, getting rid of governments, exploitation of resources, war on drugs, war on terror etc.

Mexico isn't really a huge source of immigration for us. At least not those overflowing our border towns now.

The meddling doesn't help, but we were a destination for immigrants since our inception, and we were quite the isolationists for the first 3/4 of our existence. If you look at human history, it's one of migration away from "poor hunting grounds" to the more productive. If you ask people why they come here, it's almost always for more opportunity. And while their leaders look to blame outside sources, these immigrants tend to know better. Take our Chinese immigrants. We don't have thousands of Chinese trying to get here, because we meddle in China.

While a lot of folks here and abroad don't want to admit it. Folks that are willing to bust their ass can make it here, and will outperform and out work many of the people who have been here for generations. The US is not a place for people to "coast". But it still is a place for those not interested in coasting.

But, we need to have an organized, logical coherent immigration plan. We don't have that now.
