Not really. A samoyed's coat self cleans. The undercoat keeps them cool in summer and warm in winter, and the guard hairs shed dirt. Their skin is prone to UV light and they can get seriously hurt if you cut their fur. I'd sue the bastards if they did this to my dog.
Clipping the coat can interfere with the dog’s ability to regulate its body temperature and could have deadly consequences.
That's awful. They get clogged coats very easily, especially if you bath them without grooming first. The fur felts up and is almost impossible to get a comb through. You don't brush a samoyed, you have to comb them section by section. It takes ages but they look lovely afterwards. You don't need to do it every day but at least once a month with light groom inbetween.
My mutt’s double coated… he’s moulting at the mo, tufts everywhere … keeps the Dyson busy!…. he gets brushed regularly, I could do with one of those fur blasters, but he’d shit himself on the spot I think!
