Radio 2 was my car station of choice so if out and about Righty was always on.

I say was because I had to stop listening to it as it became a daytime hip hop dance music station and I couldn't cope with that!

I wonder why BBC2 radio two got rid of him.   Maybe he wasn't diverse enough?   I remember his Mr Angry but not much else.

I used to listen to his 'Sad Story' segment, maybe in the early nineties. A friend and I would listen in work. Sometimes it brought tears to our eyes...though it was probably the mournful music more than the actual stories people wrote in with.

Because some boardroom 30 something nitwits decided he was too old.    They didn't care how much that job meant to him.   I'm convinced he died as an indirect result of his life's passion being taken away from him.

tHOSE NITWIT 30 SOMETHINGS WERE DRaGGING THE STATION INTO THE MODERN ERA AND IT'S that bloody awful I don't tune into it anymore.

I haven't looked but I'm guessing the listening figures are nose diving.

Try listening now to what used to be Ken Bruce's slot ... bum bum bum bum....
