"Labour will make the housing crisis worse with its latest migrant plan"
"Having taken office pledging to “smash the criminal gangs” that are shipping boatloads of illegal migrants across the English Channel, Sir Keir Starmer now appears instead to be in the business of renting houses for their clients"
Starmer is now asking landlords to rent out their properties to illegal immigrants coming across the Channel. All at the taxpayers expense of course.
This is beyond crazy now. Tax increases, public spending cuts, winter fuel payments stopped for many, sickness benefit stopped for many, and we're chucking money down the toilet on stuff like this.

We look after illegals better than we look after our old and ill. People who have contributed for 50 plus years are cast aside for illegals who are coming here for economic reasons ... or worse.

If the majority of the established British people had good standards of living then they might put up with things like this, even though they may not like it.
In times where so many people are struggling? Forget about it.

I agree. I think if we experience personally the way bred and born Brits are often overlooked, it has far more meaning than if we simply read about it.
Eg...my OH could not get into any local dentists practices, yet three generations of one family, immigrants who could not speak English and needed a translator, were being enrolled in my practice at the same time my husband was refused treatment. In the end he paid to go privately.
I realise that's trivial compared to the families who cannot get decent social housing or get their kids into the local schools, but it all adds up to breeding resentment, which this, and previous governments ignore,

You could ship them here, then Trump would ship them to El Salvador..😉

In some welcome relief for homeowners I see that a number of major lenders have reduced mortgages rates for 2 & 5 years fixed products to below 4% (the best deals needing a 40% loan to value though.)
Hopefully there will be a few more cuts this year to the BOE base rate meaning mortgage rates will fall again so people can refinance without crippling rates. I don't think we will go back to ultra low rates in the foreseeable future but sustained rates of 3-3.5% would welcome.
'Smash the Gangs' has now become 'smash the records' - it's the earliest time of the year that 10,000 illegals have made it across the Channel since records began
Meanwhile, Starmer says that a Reform/Tory coalition would be a 'disaster' for Britain and would leave voters 'conned' LoL

I can't get my head around rewarding illegals with comfort and warmth.
Surely rewarding crime has never been an official policy before?

They all get new clothes (some also get phones) when they get off the boat - paid for by the taxpayer. Now Starmer is asking private landlords to put them up for free on 5 year contracts - paid for by the taxpayer.
I wish we could borrow Trump on a short lease - no more than 6 months - and let him have a go at sorting it out.
We need radical new laws, a new approach, and new people in charge. Yvette Cooper is just as useless as the rest of the cabinet.

I think a lot of people share your sentiment which is why Reform is getting so much traction recently.
People might not know what they want but they know the status quo just isn't working for them. If Labour had any sense they would realise that middle of the road politics will end up displeasing just about everyone.

I have voted Labour all my life, the last general election I didn't vote, it was pointless.
I did (in desperation) look at the Reform candidate...a young kid with no experience or background info, I think they had plucked him off the street.
I've voted Tory all my life, but they had sunk so low that I voted Reform last time. Several people I spoke to after the GE did the same. AFAIK there was no discussion about it beforehand and people just seem to be switching sides under their own steam. I must admit that I do like Kemi a lot, but she is head of a wounded party now, and it will take them some time to recover.
A Reform/Tory coalition would be perfect for me, but if it doesn't happen I will stick with Reform for the time being.
I agree with many of their policies, and I think Farage would be a much needed breath of fresh air for the country. My only concern with them is that they seem to have a lot of in house squabbling, which isn't a good look, and may deter some from voting from them, but otherwise, they can't get in number 10 soon enough!

I voted Tory aswell, but voted Reform last time and will again.
I hope Reform is what we are waiting for in a party, otherwise this country and us are doomed.

Many people seem to have done the same - I think that's where Reform are getting a lot of their new voters from - disgruntled Tories!
It's a big decision to switch from a lifelong choice to something new, but people seem to be doing it in their droves.
There is a football term 'ABU' - Anyone But United - where fans hate Man Utd so much that they will support any team that plays against them. I think we are now entering a poltiical period of ABL. Labour are doomed, but the worry is how much damage will they do before they are replaced.

Exactly Red. Starmer has already made such bad decisions, which affected pensioners terribly.
He also favours immigrants over us. Doing nothing to stop the boats and wants tax payers to cough up rent for them in houses! Why do our people continue to go the bottom of the housing list. Thousands of young people with kids should come first, also the elderly, not immigrants!
This is England, our country, and Starmer is a traitor!
