I imagine the same reason we say we drove vs we drived. 🤷‍♂️

We say we drove too, not always drived.

As in, we drove to the shop.  Not we drived to the shop.

"Both "dived" and "dove" are correct past tense forms of the verb "dive", but they are used in different contexts:

Dived

The older past tense and is still standard in British English. It is also more common outside of North America.

Dove

Began as an irregular past tense in the 1800s and is now standard in American English. It is used more frequently in the United States and Canada.

The change from "dived" to "dove" is thought to have been influenced by the increased use of similar verbs like "drive" and "drove". The rise in the popularity of cars in America around the same time may have also contributed to the change. "

The two tier system of how people are treated here is damaging Britain.

A personal example...my OH is diabetic, he needs medication. He always picks his tablets up himself, and has only ONCE asked the pharmacist to deliver. It was at the start of the lockdown, where older people were told to stay home, so he requested his tablets be delivered.
He was asked 'Why,'?... couldn't he get there himself, could a family member pick them up, if he couldn't drive could he get public transport...it was like a third degree, in the end he said 'Dont bother', and he picked them up himself.

We have neighbours, Asian, mum and dad, 10 years younger than us, the dad still works. They are surrounded by family of young fit men....I just watched the same pharmacy pull up and deliver their tablets, as they have done every week for as long as I can remember, before, during and now long after Covid.

Two tier system alive and thriving in the UK.

A delivery every week? Surely it's monthly?

Weekly or monthly makes no difference, it's not the point I am making.

What's the point then, apart from blatantly pointing out that they just happen to be 'Asian' and that's why (according to you) they get preferential treatment?

I think the cops have better things to do than look into factual experiences people have posted online.

Brexit is what broke the country. it made it impossible for small businesses to continue. we cant trade anymore without a lot of costly red tape that hinders the progress of the self employed. We used to receive millions from europe now we get less than half that. Also due to brexit we have had to employ more immigrants from other countries and without them there would be no NHS. they are willing to work the longer hours for less pay that the brits refuse to. Without qualified immigants there would simply be no NHS, we Need to stop blaming them for our own ignorant choices that have led us here and respect those immigrants currently saving lives in the NHS.

I dont quite see the point you are trying to make. what has the family being Asian got to do with anything as long as they work and contribute ?? focusing on this sort of thing only causes division. our government being too scared to tax the absurdly rich 1% is the problem. If they did we could fund so many more public services. this is not a labour government, they are soft Tories and the actual Tories are far more to the right than their prior governments were. its not the british asians ruining the country nor the immigrants dutifully toiling away in our crumbling NHS. Our goverments are inept and have skewed morals.

No one is arguing that immigration has not been good for this country, unfortunately it hasn't been controlled, and now, thanks to the thousands of asylum seekers here, it's totally out of control.
My point was people are often treated differently, and if you live in the real world and keep your eyes open, it's glaringly obvious.

Another personal example, my OH could not get a NHS dentist, when he needed an emergency extraction he was given a one-off visit to a dentist miles away, it was impossible for him to be enrolled at a local surgery, they were all full.
He has never claimed one penny off the government all his working life, but instead of getting the treatment he has helped to fund for 50 years, he has had to pay privately to get treatment.

Around the same time this was happening, an interpreter was booking in an immigrant family to enrol at the same dentist I attend, and where my husband was refused.

Am I racist or a raging right-winger for pointing this out? According to some, probably. crazy

You're not racist Syl, you are right!  Too many are eating up our resources, and the old cry you're racist as worn very thin.  It's a tool to shut people up, not working anymore.  Nothing racist about wanting our country back!

Nothing racist about expecting fair treatment when it comes to NHS services, either.

Exactly!  I've got to wait a year to see a consultant for second appointment.  I waited a year for the first appointment!
