This global hit was inspired by the Manchester criminal gang known as The Quality Street Gang and how they were returning from Manchester's Strangeways Prison to Phils mums pub in Moss Side.

 It wasn't a pub Jack, it was a hotel come nightclub. Phyllis, Phils mum, opened th bar around 2am....we all used to go after we finished work in the Manchester clubs .

It was called the Showbiz.

Successful Manchester pop band who had the musical talent and song writing to be even bigger if they had dropped the silliness.

Last I heard of Freddy was he lived in Cheadle (gtr Manchester) and died in North Wales about 20 years ago.
