Weight gain is not always about eating too much cheese burgers. My friend (ahem) is in their early 40's and prior to being forty was used to being 7 and a half stone without having to watch what they eat. They got covid and the week after I guess karma came knocking. No more dairy allowed. The nurse told her it had happened to a few people. Pounds started piling on despite her eating far less kcal than b4 and she started intensive training on her exercise bike. Thankfully the weight gain stopped shy of 9 stone, her weight is fine for her height but she has to maintain a strict vegan diet. She really misses coffee with cream. Anyhoo I digress. Weight gain isn't always binge eating fast food , sometimes metabolic changes happen akin to a side effect of an illness. The less she eat and the more she trained the more pounds she put on! Covid was a chemical weapon imo, our neighbour lost the ability to walk and needed intensive rehab. Just reminding u that ppl CAN gain weight through no fault of their own.

 No kidding?

People's metabolism alows down when they age?🙄

And weight isn't always a good indicator of health..Fat percentage and performance is..

It doesn't matter what a woman looks like or weighs, if she can't do 10 push-ups, she's not in shape..

I'm not sure about statins, but it's pretty obvious that the western world is in increasing poor health requiring pharmacological intervention to keep us functioning and alive..

After all you've posted about being healthy you've fallen hook line and sinker for the pharmacological intervention line!

You're also taking advice that says don't let the old man in which to me says you'd rather have the old man as a stalker constantly following close behind making you somewhat paranoid instead of graciously letting him in and living accordingly.

You'll be dead before me mate!

As for not letting the old man in, it's a famous quote by Eastwood when they asked him about his longevity.

I don't care if you like his quote either..👍

It's good you don't care about some voice on the internet criticising what you say but you have to admit you say an awful lot about yourself on the internet so people are going to respond.

While you pretend the old man hasn't been and isn't creeping into your life do you go around wearing young mans clothes to convince yourself he's years away yet?

I post articles from experts like Dr Peter Attia, Dr Gabrielle Lyons and Dr Rhonda Patrick.

You should read or watch them instead of focusing on my wardrobe..

What in the fuck are young man's clothes?.🙄

"There is a huge difference between being fit and being thin and it is very significant as one prioritizes overall health, strength, and well-being whereas being thin is associated with size and appearance. It is very important to focus on being fit than just conform to a size chart that you think is desirable.

Being in shape is necessary as it has multiple health benefits. Regardless of whether one is thin or fat, it is important to be fit as it can improve the longevity of your life. Being in shape improves your mood and boosts your energy levels. It also reduces the risk of chronic diseases like cancer and diabetes and strengthens cardiovascular health, especially your heart."

Speaking of the huge difference between looks and performance.

Fitness is what you can do, not how much you weigh. There are plenty of skinny couch potatoes..

I'll bet Gabrielle Lyons weighs 150 pounds..

it's weird. For the most part, I post information from experts, and yet the topic turns to me..

I'll admit I incorporate a lot of these things into my lifestyle. Not because I'm some sort of scientific genius, but because I know where to find them.

I've come to the conclusion that most people on here feel attacked by this information. They haven't a clue about the information, or how to refute it (because it's basically irrefutable), so they attack the person presenting it..🤷

"Dr. Rhonda Patrick earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from the University of Tennessee at Memphis, subsequently completing a post-doctoral fellowship in Nutritional Biochemistry at the Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute in Oakland, CA. Her published research explores the intricate connections between micronutrient deficiencies, aging, and age-related diseases."

I post something from her and the response is "yeah, but what about Maddogs wardrobe"..🙄

And with the posts by anonymous, it's hard to determine an exact number because I don't know how many people it represents..

The same couple of Anons seem to like interacting with you. wink

I don't think any members (OK, maybe Jack now and again) respond in an attacking mode.

I think you come across as being in the know about nutrition and fitness and on forums ppl sometimes take offence at anyone knowing anything. I am definately fitter at 9 stone than I was at 7. But I worry that im losing vital vitamins not eating any dairy or meat. Do supplements make up 4 that in your view? I feel i can tolerate fish so eat that and rice that is really soya. I eat lots of soya masquerading as all sorts of food. Vegan cheese..There are no words. Won't bother u about this again but surely i'm not getting all te vitamins I need. The fodmap diet revealed I can't eat tomatoes or lettuce etc and I feel tired all the time yet cannot sleep. Should I contact the docs or dne

A pescatarian can get all of the protein they need. I'd be careful about too many carbs though. Rice can spike insulin. China has a pretty high diabetes rate for a reason.

Vegans struggle to get a healthy amount of nutrients and are more prone to diabetes than one would think. You have to really plan meals heavy on legumes.

I'm not a doctor so I hate to give advice like this.

Is there a reason you can't eat dairy and meat?

And yes, supplements can help..

Apparently the FDA hasn't decided whether it should be sold with a prescription or over the counter.

Not that it doesn't work or have some benefit..
