“Gregg Wallace has reportedly been fired following a nine month sexual misconduct investigation. 

But the former MasterChef star condemned the corporation in a scathing social media post saying he had been cleared of 'the most serious and sensational accusations'. 

Writing on Instagram, Wallace said he had taken the decision to go public before the Silkins report was published as 'I cannot sit in silence while my reputation is further damaged to protect others'. “

'I was hired by the BBC and MasterChef as the cheeky greengrocer. A real person with warmth, character, rough edges and all,' Wallace said. 

'For over two decades, that authenticity was part of the brand. Now, in a sanitised world, that same personality is seen as a problem.'   

“The former greengrocer, who was recently diagnosed with autism, accused the BBC of doing nothing to 'investigate my disability or protect me from what I now realise was a dangerous environment for over twenty years'.

 Jesus wept. So the BBC should have diagnosed his autism … not his wife, his family, his friends, his GP etc. 

When the camera was on him was he dropping his trousers, sticking his hands up skirts etc, touching female breasts? He was told several times, iirc, about his behaviour and still carried on.

Taking personal responsibility for his own actions is a no-no it seems. BBC should take some of that flak for continuing to employ him but the rest is down to him.

John Torode, his co-presenter in Masterchef, has also been dragged into the mess.


"MasterChef presenter John Torode has confirmed he is the subject of an allegation of using racist language that was upheld as part of a review into the behaviour of co-presenter Gregg Wallace. In a post on Instagram, Torode confirmed he was the person alleged to have used racist language but said he had “no recollection of the incident” and was “shocked and saddened” by the allegation.

His statement said: “Following publication of the Executive Summary of the investigation into Gregg Wallace while working on MasterChef, I am aware of speculation that I am one of the two other individuals against whom an allegation has been upheld.

“For the sake of transparency, I confirm that I am the individual who is alleged to have used racial language on one occasion."
