John Torode, his co-presenter in Masterchef, has also been dragged into the mess.

"MasterChef presenter John Torode has confirmed he is the subject of an allegation of using racist language that was upheld as part of a review into the behaviour of co-presenter Gregg Wallace. In a post on Instagram, Torode confirmed he was the person alleged to have used racist language but said he had “no recollection of the incident” and was “shocked and saddened” by the allegation.

His statement said: “Following publication of the Executive Summary of the investigation into Gregg Wallace while working on MasterChef, I am aware of speculation that I am one of the two other individuals against whom an allegation has been upheld.

“For the sake of transparency, I confirm that I am the individual who is alleged to have used racial language on one occasion."

John Torode confirmed he had an allegation of racism upheld in the Gregg Wallace report (Kirsty O’Connor/PA) (PA Archive)

 Torode has been sacked.

I've never liked him.  Or Gregg Wallace.  Arrogant egotists.

They get built up to be the dog’s bollox and start believing their own publicity. It’s always good to see arseholes being slammed back to reality.

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is being investigated after hiring dwarves to perform at his 18th birthday party, due to it being 'unnacceptable in the 21st century'

It's tough being a dwarf in the entertainment business, not only this, but they were replaced by CGI dwarves in the disasterous Snow White remake. The dwarves themselves are pretty pissed off that their work is drying up due to the intervention of woke do gooders.

What's the world coming to when you can no longer hire dancing dwarves to hand out drinks at your party?

I can understand dwarf tossing isn't to everyones taste, but what's the harm in hiring them to dance and hand out drinks?

Dwarf tossing is probably a bit niche, but general dwarf activities like dancing are fine, providing the dwarves/dwarfs themselves are happy about it and are not grumpy.

I say dwarves/dwarfs but I think the correct term now is 'people with dwarfism'

I wish you hadn't brought up dwarf tossing as I will now have to put it on my bucket list of things to do, although it might not be easy to arrange any more!

Presumably you are not the height that could be tossed....so you are thinking about tossing?

Many moons ago I worked in a Manchester club where the local theatre cast often visited. When Snow White was on, the seven dwarfs were regulars with their girlfriends/wives. All stunning girls, mostly tall too.

Yes I am tall enough to be a tosser rather than a tossee! I'm thinking what the landing zone should be like though - mud, sand, water, polystyrene balls, trampoline?

There's a dwarf that lives in my neighbourhood and I find him quite annoying, as he always seems to run rather than walk. I don't know if that's standard with dwarfs or just this particular one.

He gets in my peripheral vision with his little legs whirling around like the roadrunner - I find him to be quite distracting!

Yes I know of a dwarf who married a tall woman.

His friends put him up to it.

I can't believe how Gregg Wallace looked when he was young...I thought men aged like fine wine?! So they like to believe but hope they just get old too. His arrogance is unbelievable.

As for John Torode, what everyday people say about minorities or people different to themselves can be quite shocking. I'm not keen on him but groping women without consent and constant misogynistic or sexual  language is far worse than saying something you shouldn't on one occasion.

I would never excuse genuine racism. But if it happened once and only once during all the footage it shows Torode wasn't one to use offensive language about minorities. I just hope the punishment fits the crime and it's not the BBC being overtly politically correct.

Not a trampoline, it would go on for too long.

You are lucky to have a neighborhood dwarf, even though his gait does irritate you... I haven't seen one since my clubbing days. clue

Sandie Peggie cleared of gross misconduct allegations”

NHS Fife has cleared the nurse at the centre of a high-profile tribunal case of all disciplinary charges.

Sandie Peggie was being investigated by the health board after Dr Beth Upton, a trans woman doctor, accused her of a “hate incident” and patient safety breaches following a confrontation in a changing room at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

News of the outcome of the internal investigation came just hours before Ms Peggie’s Employment Tribunal against the health board and Dr Upton is due to resume.

In a statement, Ms Peggie's solicitor, Margaret Gribbon, said: “On Tuesday July 14, the evening before the resuming of her tribunal, Sandie Peggie received confirmation from Fife Health Board that, following a disciplinary hearing, none of the gross misconduct allegations against her were upheld.

“This follows a disciplinary hearing on June 25, which considered four gross misconduct allegations: two relating to patient care failures, one of ‘misgendering’ Dr Upton, and one relating to her encounter with Dr Upton in the workplace female-only changing room on Christmas Eve 2023.  https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/25316918.sandie-peggie-cleared-gross-misconduct-allegations/

The NHS has eventually done what it should have done from the start, back the females, especially Sandie Peggie,  against one entitled twat of a man...think how much money and stress could have been saved if common sense had come into play from the off.

Imagine the outcome if this hadn’t been made public. iirc both him and the Trust wanted it done in secret. I’m sure the public outcry helped the nurse’s case, quite rightly too.

I wonder how uncomfortable they’re going to try and make the nurses work life if she returns, if they dare that is.

Hopefully her fellow nurses will realise that her brave stance has helped them all...in fact, changed the law.

People with dwarfism walk(and run) normally for them and are not easily confused with Jack Russell's.

I saw a gentleman with dwarfism discussing the news item and he said he was often hired for entertainment events and enjoyed the experience and the money .as long as he isn't "thrown about"  so dw* rf tossing  is clearly no longer permitted. I think we have moved on from the middle ages.

I think of dwarfs as the little gnomes in the garden, or 7 dwarfs.

I hate that name.

Why can't they just be people. Yes they're small people, but people nonetheless.

It's outdated, like when I was a kid they were called midgets fgs.

They actually have no problem being called '"little people" and want to be called that or just "people with dwarfism" . The reason being, like you said Mags, they are just people like everyone else who happen to be shorter. nod

Some will put up with the word dwarf, others loathe it, so it's best not to use it. Midgets is apparently the most offensive term.

You're right, it's an outdated term, bordering on offensive. I would just call the person by their name.

If it' offensive, it has only recently been so.

Obviously, if I knew any especially short person, I would call them by their name if I knew it.

"Such terms as dwarf, little person, LP, and person of short stature are all acceptable, but most people would rather be referred to by their name than by a label."

Everything today has to have a label.  If you're different, quick label them.

Many years ago anyone who had disabilities were called handicapped, spastic, etc.  I hated those words.  I used to call them special.  Now they call them special, people who have special needs, much nicer word.I

Small person is nicer than dwarf to describe someone who is little.  I prefer to call them just people like everybody else.
