Proud and clearly happy to be 'preserving wildlife'...
That breaks my heart. A beautiful animal's life cut short to satisfy the ego of an armed punk. Equally disgusting to see these hunters being hailed as heroes, courageous..
I'm glad to hear he died the way he did, a small amount of karma for all those animals brutally and cowardly killed.
I feel the way same Anon. So he killed these beautiful animals for no reason. To just pose with and then what? I don't think that's permitted in this country but then we don't have the same kind of wildlife. That animal looks feline, cats of any kind should never be hurt let alone slain. It's not "courageous" to kill anything, especially wildlife in its own habitat just trying to survive.
I can't pretend to be glad the man has passed because I'm just not. It would be a very painful scary way to go too. Obviously his family will mourn him and I'm sorry for their loss. I just wish he had decided to stop hunting animals for fun or sport or whatever reason he did it for. He won't be hunting anymore now, that's for sure.

It's a mountain lion. 🙄
Mountain lions are cats.
Poor animals, killed for pleasure!

"Stetson hats are primarily made from beaver, rabbit, or hare fur felt. These furs are chosen for their ability to be felted into a durable and weather-resistant material. Stetson also uses blends of these furs, and sometimes includes mink or chinchilla in their higher-end hats. The specific fur blend, often indicated by "X" ratings, affects the hat's quality, softness, and durability."
There are actually people out there that find my headgear to be unfashionable and problematic.
These are boring, unfun people that should be avoided at all costs..😉
My dad was a Coldstream guard and yes, he did wear a bearskin (before my time)
It is barbaric that they still use them, some traditions are best left in the past.

I agree. Surely they don't need bear skin now. Synthetic material can be used to look like it.

the tall black hats worn by the King's Guard, often called busbies, are still made from real bear fur. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) sources the fur from legal and licensed hunts in Canada as part of a population management program. While PETA and others have proposed synthetic alternatives, the MoD has not yet found a suitable substitute that meets their criteria for appearance, water resistance, and durability.

And it's not like the bears are killed for the hats specifically. Just like the cow or ostrich that my boots are made of wasn't killed specifically to make leather for my boots.
INFORMED, not overly emotional adults understand that wildlife should be managed. Population control, protection for endangered species and funding for that management are critical.
Canada, the US and most of Africa are doing an excellent job in spite of the protestations of silly people that don't understand our role as the only apex predator that actually tries to manage wildlife. A mountain lion has no reservations about eating an eagle and doesn't understand that it should be protected but a Canadian Goose should be harvested..
If human beings still acted purely on their animalistic instincts, we would still be grazing our knuckles on the floor...and mentally, it seems some still are.

No we don't. Instead we use our brains to manage wildlife and domestic animals.
That's why we have such abundant wildlife, and also a steady and affordable supply of food.
Do you think we are going to run out of cows after killing millions of them every year?

Killing to eat and killing for sport or trophy hunting are two different things.

They aren't that different. Not if they are done properly. You manage populations basically the same way.
You select numbers, ages and sexes of animals to harvest. If you want to increase the size of a population you harvest fewer females so they can produce more offspring. If the population is too high, you harvest more females..
Doesn't matter if it's cows, deer or cape buffalo..
Selecting animals by age etc to control the population is culling them, and it's done for the benefit of that particular species, not to pander to mans bloodthirsty' sporting'instincts.
How do you feel about bull fighting and fox hunting?
