Dreadful fires in LA being fanned by winds. How the hell did that get started? I'll bet it's not nature but by some idiot's hand. The wildfires here were started deliberately they discovered, and also those in Europe.

Doesn't take much to start a fire out there. Power lines, trains, lightning. It's a tinder box much of the time..
But there are idiots that start these things too.
And when the wind whips up, they become an inferno that moves very fast.
The terrain makes fighting them very difficult. Thankfully, as a Texan, I don't have much experience in these things..

They have no water now to fight it and the winds are preventing aircraft from helping. They were warned about this too and are being accused of spending billions on immigration and climate initiatives but nothing on fire prevention.

Have to commend all the firefighters for putting their lives on the line.
Liz Churchill? - please say you don't follow her, please. Unless of course you're in the same conspiracy theorists' camp as her, in which case you're possibly a lost cause.
At least 10 people are reported to have lost their lives in the fire, many have lost everything they own.
Some idiot has been arrested for trying to start another fire to add to the devastation.
Now that wealthy/powerful people are losing everything, maybe they will tackle the backlog of controlled burns that remove the fuel for these events.
These winds are going to come every year and they will start fires. The magnitude is what can be controlled..
Those winds come every year and always help spread the fires. Local government knows this but decided to stop clearing brush and doing controlled fires then fired firemen because they refused to get vaccinated. Add dei to the mix and it was a disaster waiting to happen. I was in Cali a few years ago for a wedding and stayed in a town called St.Helena in Napa Valley. Lovely place and actually thought about buying a place there until we smelt the smoke and saw a red glow over the mountain. Asked a local what was going on and was told it's just the usual summer fires but this one was getting close.
We didn't buy there.
As to the cold spell, it's expected and as long as you're dressed for it no harm will come. Though I have all the gear I go from centrally heated building to heated car to heated building. Spending seconds in the bad weather. We just had a few days away in Toronto Canada. Nice place to visit. Expected it to be freezing but same temps as NYC
we do have a plan to go skiing as we do every year. Then the winter gear is needed.

They've been catching arsonists.
They caught one homeless dude trying. There might be others. The point is, these fires will happen without an arsonist. Their magnitude can be controlled by removing the fuel and funding the fire department..

And looters.
This is a large problem now..I was reading posts by someone I follow in LA. This is their number one fear right now. She is not in an evacuation zone, but some folks are leaving anyway..She's seen an uptick in sketchy people in her neighborhood.
"The building will have an entire floor of offices for case workers, in addition to a list of impressive amenities: a gym, art room, music room, computer room and library.
Residents will enjoy six common balconies and a café.
It's considered affordable housing, but the cost to build this type of project still adds up. Each unit costs nearly $600,000 and it's being funded by taxpayers."
