It was bought, not made...Aldi Quiches are the nicest you can buy imo, they have a lovely one with caramelised onion and chilli...very tasty.

Tonight, honey roasted salmon fillet with salad. OH wont eat fish, I eat it at least twice a week.

I love doing something just like that with stew meat (beef)..Peppers, onions and root vegetables are excellent roasted.

Handy hint: don't roast stew meat.

Did you decide on a desert?

I will do one of my 'famous' stir fries...with bacon, though it's just as nice with chicken. I have no cream, so it'll be with a little olive oli and white wine....and chips.

I threw my chip pan away years ago, so we just have oven chips now, but I have to say these triple cooked chips (Asda) are a lot moister than a lot of oven chips.

I ended up having a couple of Bakewell Tarts and drowning them in cream. I never feel as though I’ve had a full meal unless I have some sort of dessert/pudding…stems from my childhood I think. i’ve just been looking for a bread and butter pudding recipe (I’m not one for cooking/baking generally) to add ingredients to my next shop, been craving it the last few days for some strange reason.

i’ll keep my eye open and might try Asda oven chips (no chip pan here either).

 Ahhh, Bakewell tarts.happy

Years ago, OH and I had a day out in Bakewell, we bought 2 family sized Bakewell tarts intending to take them home. But, they were freshly made, smelled gorgeous, so we got a couple of takeaway coffees, sat in a park, and ate one each.

We both felt sick afterwards (they were massive and we were greedy) I can't face them now....but I hope you enjoyed yours.

When we went to Bakewell for 4 days, all of us couldn't stop eating them, they are so tasty!  Brought some home, didn't last long lol

The Bakewell tarts and puddings, home made in the shops in Bakewell, bear no resemblance to the ones most supermarkets sell.
I will try one again someday...definitely not a family sized one though.

hi@Syl…just to say I’ve been doing your cabbage/butter/pepper thing, and I’m kinda getting hooked on it. I do sometimes add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar right at the end, for a bit of extra zing.

I try to have at least a couple of just veggie meals a week. Today it’s gonna be ‘Melanzane Ripiene’ - eggplant/aubergine stuffed with onion, garlic, black olives and capers, cherry tomatoes, topped with breadcrumbs and Parmesan (lots of Parmesan!). Stick some chopped fresh parsley in the mix too, if you’ve got some handy.

It’s an easy recipe, if a little bit faffy to prepare. But it’s worth the faff nod

Cabbage is great, it's so versatile.

I buy the hard white cabbage, chopped up in a salad it's a great substitute for lettuce or rocket, sliced in mayo, with grated carrots, lovely rustic coleslaw, boiled (5 min max) with the butter and pepper. (glad you enjoy it) ...I think the only way I don't eat it is roasted....but there is time.
