I've never poached anything. I pan seared this salmon in my cast iron a few months ago..

That looks like a very dry meal and not too appetising, if you don't mind my saying so.

I guess you could put gravy on it..🙄

That would probably improve it

Some people actually ask for gravy when they go to the chippy for fish and chips.  smh
Some people must have very strange taste buds.

Some dishes will have a sauce for fish, even grilled fish, but just a heavy dose of spices is usually enough.

Putting gravy on fried stuff is still pretty common around  here too. And hell, biscuits and gravy are to us what beans on toast is to you..

Many sauces work well with fish, I like a lemon/white wine sauce, or a curry sauce even...but never a meat gravy sauce, especially with a battered fish, which is how our fish is served from the chippy.

Biscuits and gravy sound utterly foul, they are obviously not the same as we think of biscuits or gravy.

 I just watched this.

OK, the scones looked nice, with jam and clotted cream they would be similar to our cream teas.happy

The chicken nuggets looked tasty, but nothing unusual....the gravy!! Honestly Maddog, we taste food with our eyes first, and tbh, I would think I was eating vomit, it looks absolutely revolting.

Have you seen some of the crap boys of that age eat?

Mine have sat in the back of the car eating stuff that's smells like a mixture of halitosis and sweaty feet.

That's true, but sausage gravy is devoured by old white women too..

If we had a state breakfast food, that would be it..

Old white women should know better.

They also look extremely unhealthy, full of crap, no wonder so many Americans are obese if that's the sort of junk they eat. wink

Meh, it makes them happy. 😎

It's not very healthy as sausage can be full of things that are unhealthy (nitrates), and then you mix it with flour for the gravy and add the flour in the biscuits and you have that mixture of carbs and fats that spikes insulin, tastes good, and leads to overeating..

Like spaghetti, hamburgers, fish and chips..

Since we're talking breakfast, I just had a smoothie with yogurt, berries, protein powder, chia seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and peanut butter.

Biscuits and gravy would have been nice, but not healthy and not a good idea before the gym.

I had some bran flakes and a cup of tea.
Just a coffee since.
I am never hungry in the daytime, come 8ish....(the wrong time of day to eat apparently) but that's when I will enjoy my food.

When you eat isn't really what's important. That's sorta myth..

What you are doing without knowing it is intermittent fasting.

Its good to go 14-15 hours if you can with out eating.  It gives your body time to switch to fat burning and it makes it harder to overeat. Two reasons you likely stay slim in spite of not having any real plan.

I don't follow the advice, but it does make sense that if you have your main food earlier in the day you have more chance of burning up calories.

I don't, and I never have. As soon as I was able to please myself, I have eaten in the evening...not much at all in the day.

How people manage 3 meals a day, unless it's little snacks, amazes me.

You're not going to burn any more calories eating earlier. That's an old school myth..

The longer you put off breakfast the better, as long as you are getting enough of the right food during the rest of the day..

If you can get 40-50 grams of protein  a meal, in two meals, thats a healthy diet..

Tonight's tea...fried pork sausage and red onion gravy and chips.
Crusty bread and butter.
It's freezing, so hot food is a must.
