I might have missed it, but I don't think you have a thread for what you've seen recently that you'd recommend as a good watch.

I'll start with one documentary I'm watching now on Netflix, 'From Rock Star to Killer'

French rock star Bertrand Cantat on trial for killing his actress partner. Was it a crime of passion like he claimed? Does it end there is there more to come? It's a powerful drama, subtitled but you can choose English audio if you like. Three episodes.

I have not seen that on Netflix anon. 1 but I will certainly give it a go if I do , it sounds intriguing! I know the new series of Black Mirror is on in about a week. I'm sure Charlie Brooker's dystopian bag of tricks isn't everyone's cup of tea but aside from a few ropey episodes (the one with Miley Cyrus was a low point) this witty sci fi is usually really good.

I watched Gangs of London and This City Is Ours - both are a bit meh tbh. Especially TCIO with's it's cast of the same old Scouse actors in the same old roles "calm down, calm down"

A Cruel Kind of Love: The Ruth Ellis Sory - was very good

The White Lotus is enjoyable, as is 1923

The Ruth Ellis story was very watchable.
I thought the words of hangman Albert Pierripoint, "I have seen some brave men die, but none braver than her" as the credits rolled at the end, was very touching.
Obviously, she should never have been hanged, it was a travesty of justice.

The Black Mirror series was brilliant.

Yes It was.  The guy who have her the gun and egged her on, so an accomplice, was  related to Judge Humphries, so never prosecuted!  The old school trick!

Unfair, unjust and sad to see.

 Loved White Lotus! nod

Also enjoyed the movie ‘1883‘ - which was a prelude to the ‘1923‘ tv series, and was about the origins of the Dutton family dynasty in the ‘Yellowstone’ tv series.

‘Gangs of London‘ is on my list.

And, like many people, ‘Adolescence’ had me gasping.

 "It's ok lass, I won't hurt ya"

She near jumped out of her skin when Pierrepoint came into her cell - can't blame her though.

I'm enjoying S3 despite it not being as well reviewed as the first two. It's got a great vibe to it.

1923 reminds me of a Wilbur Smith epic - a great story of the husband and wife making their way across 1920s America

Then if you haven’t already seen it, you should check out how it all started by watching ‘1883’. The first of the Dutton family settlers doing the same thing.

It’s a Western, but they keep it as real as possible. Sam Elliot was great in it, as was Billy Bob Thornton’s appearance.

If you never watched Murder in Successville jump in quick before it goes from Netflix. Different guest each week with no script and no idea what they're in for, in a city populated by celebrities, it's quirky British stuff at its best

Here's a sample episode if you want a taster

My tip is turn that thing off and go out.

In all seriousness most of my viewing is podcasts on YouTube, but I did get into The Landman. In part because so much of it is filmed within miles of my house.

That and the GF wanted to watch it and got me hooked..

I enjoyed every season of Fargo.

And if you liked Juno Temple’s character in Ted Lasso, here she is in Fargo (season 5)

Landman is excellent. I’ll always watch any movie/tv series that has Billy Bob Thornton in it.

If you enjoy action stuff, Lioness is worth a watch. Great cast nod

I lied. I watched that too. I was trying to not get ahead on Landman, because the GF wanted to watch the episodes with me, so I watched that on nights we weren't together.

She gets up at like 5am and can't binge watch like me..

One of the blessings of needing 5 hours’ sleep  (max) at a time, is being able to binge watch late into the night.

💭💭 “OK then…just one more episode” - we’ve all done that, right? wink

 I do.

She just falls asleep. 10 hours a day going full speed training older folks, some with dementia, wear her out.

They can be worse than kids..
