It's so grounding to hear the ones left (very few now) talk about that time. They endured the horrors we can't even imagine.

I bet everyone remembers this iconic pic.

The story goes that the sailor was so overcome with all the excitement, he grabbed the nurse, who he didn't know,  and gave her a big kiss. His girlfriend is in the background...and she doesn't seem to mind at all. happy
