It makes me think, in the North of England, we will have lots of groomers back on the street after being given a pathetically short sentence to begin with.

The drugs have to be taken for life, and they will only work when sexual predators have not been driven by power or violence.

I think it could work with some peadophiles who cannot control their urges due to brain chemistry issues to reduce re-offending.

I don't think it would work on people who groom as they are making conscious decisions which they can control but choose not to due to holding a warped ideology.

Presumably they would have to be monitored and tested. It's more of a suppressant than a castration...because it only works whilst the pill or injection is being administered.
I believe men who are in prison for grooming could be candidates. Many groomers use coercion not violence, or even power....we will have to wait and see. I can also see paedophiles lining up for early release.

The prisons are badly overcrowded, and many people are there who should not be, but allowing sex offenders out on the condition they take medication....it sounds very risky to me.

It's not going to work. End of.

Statistics (if true) show it has lessened repeat acts of sexual offences, both here and abroad.

There has been talk of making it mandatory, as it is in some countries, but given the side effects, and our human rights laws, I doubt it ever would be here.

I saw an interview once of a man who knew he was a paedophile, he was begging for help afraid he would act on his urges.
I think maybe drugs, plus psychiatric care, could help people like him.
