Is Reform MP racist or just saying what some people think?

I think it's silly to consider different views on race as racism.

Wondering why some races are over represented in adverts isn't racism, it's asking why does race seem to be so important in adverts.

To be fair, I think most people are. The constant drumbeat of people screaming about racism comes from a loud, vocal minority of people..

Black and Asian people do seem to feature a lot more than whites in many TV ads, also, if the BBC is doing an outside broadcast, particularly at a school or college, they more often than not interview none English born kids. It doesn't bother me, but it is a fact.
Perhaps it's reverse racism on behalf of the media.

How is this possible?)and I feel Reform intend to lead people to their own economic demise by using their prejudices.

Syl, I honestly don't see this. After this became a news story and I saw the Reform MP citing her disgust I sat down.and prepared to watch a few adverts.

It was highly tedious but a washing machine product had a blonde beauty , a crisps adverts featured white teenagers and a Kiko make up advert with a white model. The last advert for sofa's showed two black couples and one white couple.

But I recognise that might happen to.be the adverts I was shown at the time. If I had seen mostly POC I can honestly say I wouldn't have cared less.

I have noted the BIB to be true but I think that's a positive thing in children 's educational programmes as children don't see colour. The hatred and loathing is learned. So I do live in hope that normalizing all colours and creeds will halt this terrifying trend in the younger generation before the Murdoch media attempts to manipulate them.

Ten years ago The Sun called out Nigel Farage for being racist..that would never happen now..Racist discourse has become so much more acceptable in the last ten years.

A few years ago, practically every Xmas ad from the big companies featured a black mum or dad married to a white mum or dad, with a mixed race kid.

I'm not sure what the percentage of mixed race families are in the UK, but anyone watching the ads might think it was 100%.

I think the constant drumbeat of people screaming is the constant narrative of illegal immigration and what illegal crimes poc comitt. White people haven't stopped commiting sexual assaults,or theft, they are just not publicised in the media. The voice protesting against this sort of narrative is more of a whisper than a scream...

Name all these huge amounts of prolific left wing screamers in British politics who try to stand up to racist rhetoric .. There is James O'Brien and Owen Jones. That's 2 people against a plethora of podcasts, and news programmes who generally support Reform..except in.this case where they went too far.

You tend to say the opposite of the truth though. I believe you think it's "edgy"

The figures of immigration in The UK is 95% of is it legal, only 5% is illegal. Even so I think it needs to stop in.The UK as international law dictates we have to house all who.arrive via small.boat since we departed the EU. And we simply haven't the room.

I agree with you there. That was certainly a case of political correctness gone mad. I felt terribly sorry for that girl being isolated in front of her peers.

But one bad apple does not an unjustified woke uprising make!. That was an isolated incident (I hope) or we would have heard of many more,I'm sure

I was hoping people would establish if they thought the Reform ladies comments about "getting mad when she sees black people on television" were racist or not.

To me it evidently is. Imagine if a poc declared they got mad seeing too many white people on television. I am certain some posters here would say that was out of line.

She said she got angry when she saw too many black families on television. I think that's rude personally and yes racist. Why is she angry seeing black people on tele??

If a poc said they got annoyed or angry seeing too many white people on television what would you feel about that,?

Well England is predominately a white country so far, and indigenous English are white...so I think they were being a bit stupid.

When I am in Greece, Spain, any other country you care to mention....I would expect to see Greeks/Spanish etc...on TV.

I think it is of course racist to declare she doesn't want to see black people on television. But what bothers me more is how she wouldn't have been permitted to say this a decade ago and how much the media have allowed such abhorrent views to become normal discourse. So why is Pochin talking about being drove mad about Black British people??

The representative for Runcorn went on to state that the average white person ‘does not feature’ in TV ads, before going on to blame the ‘wokerati’ for the perceived shift in demographics. However, the ramblings have left her in hot water.
Her apology was -
"My comments on a Talk TV phone-in earlier today were phrased poorly and I unreservedly apologise for any offence caused, which was not my intention. Representation in advertising should reflect the diversity of modern Britain.“

The term 'racist' is flung around so much now it's beginning to lose any power or meaning. We've all noticed more and more mixed race or black actors in adverts. Personally, I'm not that arsed if they're sky blue pink.

However, it does get my back up when major white historical figures are portrayed by black actors as with the debacle of the Anne Boleyn remake. The thing tanked. it's not only idiotic it's fucking insulting to our culture.
