Bloody hell...what a jobsworth.

A woman has spoken about the "shocking" moment she was issued a £150 fine after feeding a pigeon a bit of tortilla wrap.

Sam Elkin, 23, from Southport, was in Manchester with her partner to celebrate her birthday on 9 March when she was handed the fine for "littering" in the city's Piccadilly Gardens.

Sam told BBC Manchester she was sitting with her partner eating a McDonalds wrap. She tore off a piece and put it on the floor for an approaching pigeon and was almost immediately issued a £150 fine by a council enforcement officer.

"The food was literally gone - the pigeons had eaten it and left - before he'd even approached us really," Sam said. "It was shocking, I got really upset."

Sam said the incident, on Monday, had left her feeling "quite vulnerable".

"It was quite scary, to be honest, because I'm only short and the person that approached me was six foot-odd - and my partner's in a wheelchair, so I did feel quite vulnerable in that moment," she said.

I didn't even know it was illegal to feed the pigeons in Piccadilly gardens, and I have lived here all my life.

 Too late...

Sam said when she gave the officer her ID she did not know she was being issued a fine.

"I thought he said he would just give us a warning and then he asked for my ID and obviously I handed it over, not thinking, but then as soon as he took my details, that was it - and it was an £150 fine."

Here's one. Essex couple got home from holiday, found an illegal stowaway hiding under a cover on the back of their motorhome. Reported it to police. Fined £1500 for failing to check for clandestine entrants before leaving France.

Piccaldilly gardens is the meet up for druggies and idiots, the place most people who live here avoid, and it's been the same for decades.
Yet this fool zooms in on a woman who fed a bloody pigeon....you couldn't make it up.

The fine has been cancelled now, probably because when news like this becomes public, the authorities look like idiots.

A woman was pounced upon by THREE 'enforcement officers' after she poured some of her coffee down a drain as he was about to board a bus, and didn't want to spill any on the journey.

She was fined £150, also later cancelled, which is a bit rich considering water companies pump actual human shit into rivers and sea

I cannot stand a jobsworth, and see anyone doing this type of job as an inferior species.

Yes, I agree about officious jobsworth dickheads. They‘re a pain in the ass, always.

Also yes, I’m gonna be judgmental…all those face piercings? Whyyyy?? 🤷🏻‍♀️ And I’m further judging her ’sad face‘ pose, as she pleads poverty. I mean, maintaining that Rainbow coloured hair probably takes a huge chunk out of her disposable income, or out of whatever benefits she might be on.

🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe, but it looks too ‘structured’ for a DIY to me.

I totally get the point of your thread - the prat having a meltdown over her briefly feeding a pigeon, was ridiculous beyond words.

But she annoys me too! 🤣
