Anyone watching? Seems like the ladies here don't give two shits about sports. I think Red is a soccer fan though.

Anyway, your lads are playing in my old home town on Wednesday (inside so they won't die).

The region is ready for the onslaught of fans. The Stockyards are closing two streets that are too crowded anyway. They will be all pedestrian (or horseback). The Netherlands play Sunday, so I expect to see orange jerseys and new hats and boots in the Stockyards on Saturday night.

Of course Brits travel and party well so they might be there Saturday night too..

I like watching some sports....football isn't one of them, though if a derby or a big England game is on, I may keep OH company, he is a big MU fan.

Kickoff on Wednesday should be about 9pm your time. Take your OH to the pub for some revelry.

Too rowdy. He will watch it at home in comfort. Son and grandsons are not interested in footy either.

Well, for the Brits (especially the attractive females) that make the journey to support their lads, I'll be the consumate tour guide and ambassador (and  I'll discreetly them their new hat is on backwards)..😉

I love club football (not soccer!) much more than international football, but will watch as many matches as I can in the big international tournaments, like the World Cup finals.

I'm not patriotic at all when it comes to football and will enjoy seeing England get knocked out.

My money is on Spain - Viva España!

Well, I can't call it football because it would make no sense to people that speak American. ;)

I like the pageantry and passion of the World Cup, I don't watch many games though. I'm there for the party.

I would think Spain is always a favorite. And of course so are the French since they seem to pull in every player they can from former colonies.

I watched some of the Canada match earlier, and they were putting 100% effort in, something you hardly ever see - they were sprinting to take throw ins, and getting up immediately after being knocked over, instead of the usual rolling around and feigning injury. It was like watching on fast forward!

Yeah, Spain and France are both good teams. Both have very good technical players who can keep the ball, which wears the other team out, then go in for the kill - I suppose a bit like a bullfighter! Either could win, but I just prefer Spain

The rolling around on the ground would be difficult for the typical Canadian man. That's a place where hockey is king and they have a different mentality.

Even when my girls played club and traveled the country they played like Texans who grew up around American Football. Even if your leg broke, you acted like it was nothing, lol. They had to be coached to go down.

Now Mexicans? They will flop if you look at them funny.

South Americans in general are pretty good at diving.

It was always the little bloke running on to the pitch carrying a bucket and a magic sponge that used to crack me up…writhing in agony one minute, a squeeze of the sponge and they were re-born a minute later. wink

Unfortunately there weren't any roving bands of attractive female fans of the Dutch team roaming around the Stockyards last night. At least not where I was.

Or they didn't stick out.

I did talk to 3 Dutch men that most certainly screamed "European" by their look.

They were polite but not gregarious or outgoing. Sorta like I would expect them to be. Like Germans..

I guess they are all over in Arlington doing their "Orange Walk" as I type..They even brought their bus..🤷

Maddog, you sound like a stalker.
You need to act your age and settle down with a matronly 60 year old....one who is within your reach. wink

A stalker?  Because I go out or because I'm a fan of attractive women? I have a lot of company.😉

Settle down? That sounds positively dreadful..

I'm not going to sit at home on Saturday night and if I did, I doubt it would be with a 60 something year old.

women can smell desperation a mile off.

You’re sounding like a “dirty old man” as we say here.
