That's borderline elder abuse trotting her out there like that..
I agree. Why are aging once great stars encouraged to carry on in their 7O's?
Debbie Harry, Diana Ross, poor Dionne Warwick, who was so iconic up till 20 years ago. She was voted off early when she appeared on The Masked Singer last year...and she was competing against people who were actors not singers...it was painful to see.

If they still got it (Rolling Stones), it's OK to sing in your 70s..
It's kinda like driving. There isn't a correct age to hang up the keys, but there comes a time for most people to do so. And others around them to male sure it happens..

Playing instruments (like the Stones do) can drown out a dodgy voice, and lets face it, Mick Jagger was never the best vocalist around, even when he was young.
Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCarney, all good singers up till a few years ago, are better off relying on autocue nowadays.
I do think women are more likely to lose their vocal range earlier than men do....even Barbara Streisand, who had a great voive, sounded dodgy last time she sang live ....I think it ws trubute to Robert Redford.

That's true, and our National Anthem is very difficult to sing. It scares very good singers. Martha should never have been allowed out there.
It is difficult to sing, the range gos from low to high, even good singers can sound horrible. There was a young girl who had won awards for singing, (we mentioned it on here ages ago) yet she was so bad she was booed throughout. Rosannes creer almost finished after her rendition, even Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas, who tried to give a sexy version (big mistake) was laughed at.
From what I have seen over the years, Whitneys version was probably the best.
🤦🏻♀️ And yet, I had to go and click on it anyway! 😖 I got as far as ‘And the rockets’ red GAL-AIRRRRRR’
Sorry but if she’s aware enough to remember the lyrics, she must surely have had at least some awareness of how horrific she sounded. I felt sorry for her backing singers. They looked mortified.

It's at that exact point where the backing singers make hesitant 'take it away Martha' hand gestures. LoL
I think it's to let the audience know that they are not taking part in the next particular bit of screeching, more than anything else.

I went to see the Hollywood Vampires a few years ago and Alice Cooper pretty much sounded the same as in the 1970s.

Didn't Mariah Carey tackle it once and the vocals were so flowery it as all over the place like a wild woman's shite? I can't bear those kinds of vocals.

😂 Yeah, I caught that too. Who can blame them? There was no cleaning up that mess.
