Please read this little story, it makes a change to see something good in Whine.
If you are about to make a nasty post aimed at someone....read this and think how much nicer it is to see good things instead of nasty things.
When Ashton Cayton lost his football kit in the park he burst into tears worrying how his single mum could afford to replace it.
But a “lady and her dog” spotted the nine-year-old “sobbing his heart out” alone in the park, ensured he got home safely and slipped £100 through his door to buy replacements.A note read:
That story really touched me, what a lovely woman.
Hello Syl,
The story touched me as well and reminded me of a slightly different incident of which I was a party to.
Many blue moons ago walking back from school on a dark winter evening I found a small
purse. It had coins in it and a pound note and about 1,70 in total,
this is a good thirty years ago. Initially, I thought, great stuff my lucky day
but then I instantly recalled what dad had said to me once when he had found
a small bracelet. He said, "think of the poor lady, girl that has lost this she must
be devastated." When I got home about 30-40 yards from where I found it, told
mum and in the light we discovered a name. The name was of a girl that live two houses away
from ours (Our street had houses one side and works playing fields other side
and very dark place at night)
Mum told me to take it back and I was happy to do that in light of how my parents
had brought me up, never expect anything for nothing.
I went down the circle of steps to our home and then similar steps
to the girl's house, she was the same age as me but different secondary school.
The mum opened the door and i said i found this and think it belongs to Deborah
as Debs written in the purse. The woman took it off
me without saying a word and close the door and to this day I
vividly recall that. I think she saw me and boys of my age as trouble
as my friends used to hang around with me outside our hose and stit on the wall/steps as they were big houses
and I guess the old woman did not like me. But I never regretted returning the purse as my mum and dad and the way they brought us up. Their teaching has helped me in our
lives on days when I don't feel like going to work, I always think about what they
used to say to us, "you work for what you want and don't get something for nothing."
Hiya Anonymous, you did right to return the lost purse, your mum and dad taught you well.
Not everyone shows appreciation, or even says 'Thanks' when you do a good turn, but that's their problem not yours. x

There so many lovely things that go on in the world they just get buried under the bad things.
24-hour news, all bad, will have you believe the world and everyone in it is bad. We don't even have "And finally" anymore. ( for those that are too young or have forgotten, after the day's news there was always a snippet of something good that had happened, so news ended up on a bright note)
I believe in pay it forward. Everything I need seems to one day turn up. I never sell anything anymore I give it for free to someone who needs it. I have a group called helpful people ( not the right name for stalking reasons) it's for my village and surrounding villages and we all try to help each other in a time of need.
I did have another group called, skill swap, and it started off great, then businesses joined and ruined it. "what you think 10 hours of babysitting is worth me wallpapering your fireplace wall!!!" They joined to advertise and were not interested in helping anyone. my new one, no businesses allowed that is a hard and fast rule.
There are some lovely stories on my local FB group ive seen a few where someone's home has burnt down and everyone rallies around and collects all the things that family need to get them started again.
Or someone thanking people for helping thier mum/dad who had a fall or had their purse stolen.
We need the good news our whole being craves it.
I would suggest to anyone alone at Christmas to look for your local homeless or "alone this Christmas" thingie and join in. I love it, I always hated Christmas and now I love it, I collect food and clothes in the run-up and then spend Christmas day, Boxing day and new years day with many lovely people. All-day long people drop in to bring the homeless or lonely, gifts or just stay and chat to them. We have such a laugh, and the homeless have such wonderful ( and sad) stories to tell. They have nothing yet never seem bitter and always up for a laugh.
One of the homeless regulars was missing one year, we found out he had been beaten up pretty badly while he was asleep and after he was released from hospital the police had a whip-round and paid for him to stay in a hotel for Christmas all kitted out with new clothes etc. So another lovely story was hidden by the bad stories, the papers only mentioned about him being beaten up.
If you look for it there is a lot of wonderful things going on.

Hey
Update. Funny really I had a dream about this last night. Took me back to when I was a kid at our old house with mum and dad.
I wrote the above post and waiting to be activated.
Another thing I rmembered just now as I think about my school day an incident at school.
I was 14/15 and in the History lesson a double lesson last of the day a girl in my class started crying and said 5 pounds had been stolen. The
money was given by her mum to do the shopping on the way back home. The teacher wanted to search everyone and one boy refused.
That boy was taken to the heads office but not sure if he was searched or not. The good news and it must of took guts. The girl
told everyone that it was her mistake and she'd left the money on the table. Credit to her as the fear of looking silly was surpassed by honesty and it took the

That's a wonderful uplifting post Smithy, thanks. x
I do believe most people get more joy out of giving than receiving, and I think the nice people in the world far outweigh the bad ones, it's just that the news concentrates on all the bad stuff going on.
I also remember when the 10 oclock TV news always ended up with a nice story, even if it was just a cat that had been rescued from up a tree somewhere, it left you feeling positive after listening to all the gloom and doom. They should bring that back. especially for people who live alone or dont get out much, where the world looked at from a distance, can seem like a scary place.
