I can't wait to lift the EU boot off our necks. Yippee
Me too. its been a long time coming and not just since the vote. We should never have gone in.
Don't see you this side of the forum often Mags. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you all the best for the year. xxx
I voted leave, regret it as it's taken so long and nothing will really change other than the right wing becoming more prominent. We will be better off mid to long term
and I believe that other countries see how well the UK is doing, they too will want to leave. I voted to leave as I want our government to make laws and not the EU.
Another important factor was to stop uncontrolled immigration but it does work both ways. The UK is what it is with the help of people from other countries
and I advocate a points system like that of Australia.
I think Australia's system is far better than ours, we should adopt it. Also I think a few others, maybe France will leave when they see how better we are out of Euro. So glad we kept the pound otherwise that would have to change too.

We do need a fairer system. I have never seen why we let people come here to just live on the street or in slums. Why would be let anyone (other than those fleeing) come here without prospects of bettering their life? We have always had immigration because we need it but we also had housing and job growth. we don't have that now.
I would have loved to emigrate to Oz but there was no way I could as didn't have a needed skill and not enough money to set myself up. We are letting all the young fit people come here and their own countries are falling into ruin as there are not enough young energetic people left to rebuild.

I'd just like to add to my post about the Australian system. Having looked at it, it could easily be improved but we do need a fair system that is fair to us and fair to those hoping to join us regardless of their race, religion, colour, etc...... Then once they have proved that they are good citizens, EG not get into trouble and still working, the lead applicant, their spouse/etc and children up the age of 18 at the point of entry would then be then allowed the privilege after 5 years of becoming a British citizen. Having just looked at the citizenship costs, they run into several thousand for each person. We should use a points system like some other places and this will alter as the UK's needs change.
I'd also advocate some type of mandatory release fee should one of nurses, doctors, and other professionals we spent a lot of money on decide to go to another country for more money, etc within let's say 8 years of their qualification being obtained.
There are no shortages but we will get shortages. It only takes one story in the papers and people will start to buy more than what they normally do and you will get the domino effect. There is already a shortage of certain types of meds due to supply, demand and production problems. I'm certain that within days we will get panic buying and in turn causing shortages.

Probably. That's a very odd trait some human beings have. You only have to lok at supermarket shelves over the holiday periods, when the shops are closed for one day max, yet people stock up as if Armageddon is on the horizon.
One thing I do notice, Heinz baked beans always seem to sell out very quickly, possibly by the same people who are stocking up on loo rolls.
Oh well, we are nearly there and I for one did not realise it was Friday. I'm happy we kept our currency but will miss the easy, trouble free travel to the EU as we often go to Spain.
UNITED KINGDOM—As Brexit was finalized today, millions of Britons instantly dropped dead.
"Upon returning to the dystopian nightmare of self-determination and not being ruled by an elite group of unelected bureaucrats, millions died on the spot," said an NHS spokesperson. According to official reports, millions gathered to scream at the sky but instantly died instead. "It is as though millions of voices suddenly cried out at once but were suddenly silenced."
"They simply... lost the will to live," he added somberly. "You might say they died of a broken heart."
Remain voters said they tried to warn Brexit supporters that this would happen, but they didn't listen. "We were very clear that everyone would die in the event of leaving the EU, and look what happened," said London citizen Gaylord Mumfordshire III as he lay on his death bed. "EU... forever!" Mumfordshire III then breathed his last. There's actually a cure for death by Brexit that could have saved him, but he was on an NHS wait list.
