Men who beat their wives and kids and wives who beat their husbands and kids are considered good family people to those outsides, you have probably posting alongside one for years and consider them lovely people.   You are strangers on a forum you know F-all about anyone really.  

You post alongside one of the most hated people in forum world who has been banned everywhere for racism sexism and creepy messages, yet you get on with them, pr so it seems from here.    So not surprising you don't see Major for what he is you probably have the same views.

 Even if that is true, it is very scary. Imagine that I or you did not meet his strict criteria, what would happen to us? The post about what he wants to see in England, the type of people, what they look like, their religion, etc, I find that scary. I had a few long term posters on my site that played a "part" and it was close to, true to life, EG a lorry driver always banged on about other road users not knowing how to use the roads and how he would take them off the roads via ban. Another was left wing Labour person and banged on about equality for all, cheap housing, rent controls, free public transport and higher taxes and from what I could tell he did not work. Then we had a lady that did not work had several dogs and cats and always banged on about it was not right to own pets and leave them stuck in a house for hours. What I am saying is that I've found people post close to what they believe, practice possibly with a bit of spice added for effect but on the whole it is what they are.

 I do believe some people play a part on forums...not me btw, what you see is what you get.

 

Whether people who play a part are also revealing what they are really like deep down, yes I think in part they are...we are all made up of nice and not so nice attributes, and social media and forums give an outlet for some less savoury characteristics to vent.

 

Forums operate differently. Some keep extreme posters around because they are good for business, others keep them around so they can prod and push them to make them react.

We don't need the business and we don't like to create victims....we are just allowing others to talk about what's happening elsewhere in this open section of the forum..

 Thank you. Your post perfectly sums up what I've said in this thread at some point possibly twice, a forum is what the Admin want to make it.  This thread does seem to have woken up Admin over there but ATM just empty threats to ban Starbold.

 Guest,  I am inclined to agree. .Dr Synne and I were discussing Dogs in the Whine a few days ago and BackGammon did not rush over to chastise us.

Looks like is telling stories again. If she was genuinely upset as her post after the one below states, she'd ban him. What's all this business about I've hardly been around for the past few weeks? She has been there, she was there and she is now there, so why not BAN him rather than tell porkies that Starbold has more than one username on the Dogs. Is hse getting ready to leave? At times I feel that many names on the Dogs that suddenly go away and then re-appear all of a sudden are controlled by Admin.

Why not just ban the username, love? Or is it more likely the fact that your senior Admin won't allow it.

 I didn’t get offended Guest. It was a mistake, we all do them from time to time. 

It seems to me nothing much happens on Dogs - there are long running threads such as #DS119, the twitter random thread and then not much else.   The Major has been starting many new threads on stories he reads in the news with a link and then barely a coherent original post.  Then Legendary starts many threads in bursts - such as What ya doing Dean?  What ya doing Budgie?  These tend to be personal stuff digging for information or going back to past real life personal incidents.    Apparently Legendary has only had sex with about 550 women and not the several thousands the other lads say he has done.  Then Cactus Jack, Canny and Fletch start posts about politics and conspiracy related things... To be honest there is not much high brow discussion going on.  However I think most are pretty knowledgeable especially in IT but most seem to have lost the will to make much of an effort and are simply continuing out of routine or instinct.  Chasing the racist seems to be a popular pastime on there as well as bouts of laddish behaviour and political whining.
