Some people are allowed to troll away to thrir hearts content, others aren't allowed to put a foot wrong if they are not as popular as other posters.
It's unfair and pretty much akin to the ethics of schoolchildren but sadly human nature is what it is. If there isn't really a justified reason to hate a poster that people want to troll they will simply make things up about them. Problem solved!
The only real way to judge who is honest and who is stirring the pot with startling aplomb is judge how a poster has treated you personally. Don't go by rumour or forum hearsay. Read the posts of people accused of being the worst trolls in human existence and if they are polite and normal you can pretty much tell this person is just being targeted.
If their posts are hostile, rude, and well just downright unpleasant, they probably are the malevolent trolls posters claim they are. But there is so much fiction on these forums it puts Jackanory to shame!

Dean can call me what he wants but people in glass houses and all that. I wouldn't waste energy trying to change the narcy little pervert. I'm no head shrink and that's the only thing that could change him, I just like throwing the occassional spoke in the circle jerk though.

A tried and tested tactic - throw enough shit and it sticks yet the people who do it are usually deflecting from their own repulsive personalities.

And the first ones to play the victim card when the shit gets thrown back. It's fair enoug to say it's a game but it's a game for unhappy little puppies all the same.

I didn't see the thread but I see it as long term members squabbling - there is a lot of squabbling that occurs.
I'm sorry that you feel that strongly against one of the forum members - but he has been honest in saying he sees it as a sort of game (when using names such as c... and nonce). You are not going to change it so you have to either put up with it and carry on, or ignore it, or endlessly argue or be witty in your responses or leave or spend less time there. Nobody owes anyone any favours. If someone is going to call me names or criticise me then I will only respond one or two times if I feel it is necessary and then leave it.

That's the approach I take too. If he is flinging an offensive word around all the time and zero effort is made to rein him in, then I just ignore it.

BUT occasionally I tell him exactly what I think that name represents. Clue: nowt do with me!
