Students and young people were still living it up. So I think that is why Boris has done it.

This virus will never go if selfish people are still out and about.

I wonder how many wont be following the experts advice to stop social gatherings, not visit friends and families, especially if there are older or vulnerable people in the home.
The advice a few days ago was don't visit someone who is self isolating if you yourself are mixing with others...either at work or socially.

It's a totally alien way of life that we are all used to, but it has to be followed if we want to see this thing controlled without hundreds of thousands of us falling victim.

There was a bloke interviewed in the street yesterday, the journalist asked him if he would be following the advice of stopping social gathering. He said 'Nope....no one is stopping me going where I want to go'.

The journalist then said he could be putting other people at risk....he said 'Well, they shouldn't be out then should they'.

The idiot didn't get it.

I saw that - the arrogant, selfish bastard made me furious because he was so cocky about it as well.

I wish I believed there was such a thing as Karma.

 Oh I do hope so!

Sadly, maybe this virus is ours.

I was looking through an old fashion mag,  endkess models pouting and posing. .literally 15 pages of adverts for high end hundred pound handbags and perfumes before any articles began.  Said articles how to get the perfect "eyeliner flick" , how to "rock" a pixie cut and a designer refusing to use female models above size 6 at his runway show. His ethics were a tad lacking but women trolling him on social media saying he deserved to die I didnt feel was really the appropriate way to combat the sexist perfectionist world of high end fashion.

Society has become evermore vicious, vacuous and vile. Drunk on its own obsession with aesthetics and appearance over reality. Hundred pounds for a gaudy handbag is hundred pounds not given to charity,  not given to the poor, you might as well be chucking it down the drain.

Those not born in wartime never learnt true heartfelt feelings like empathy or loyalty, I really feel this. I prefer the company of older people because for the most part they are more civilised and intelligent than younger people who are self complacent and entitled. The fighting and grabbing of supermarket goods, not caring who else may be in need is typical of how selfish human beings have become . So is the open flouting of the recommendations of the PM although I do believe he intended to ban non essential businesses opening anyway.  The message was delivered  in bite size pieces so not to cause mass alarm and panic but the agenda was highly transparent.

This doesn't apply to everyone of course but seeing the footage of the Nurse weeping because people had stripped the supermarket  shelves bare made me think if karma was involved here I wouldn't be at all surprised. Seeing the way people behave on social media and forums even, the isolating of those considered different,  the gang bullying and toxic trolling, well won't this be a wake up call for people who thought driving people to despair was merely a fun way to wile away the time.

A good thing to come out of this is enforced empathy for others, as now people are now no longer permitted to stockpile they are being forced to consider other people's needs.  If someone's loved one becomes ill because they continued to go out it will be a chilling  lesson to learn but maybe at last people will learn to actually care for their elders and even feel genuine regret. That would really be something. The isolation will provide thinking time and people will realise how lucky they truly were before the virus demolished their lives and they will learn to feel gratitude too. They may learn to cook, help assist with children,  actually pick up a book or kindle.,although that may be too much to hold for.

After this terrifying ordeal where twenty thousand deaths nationwide is considered a hopeful figure the previous innate attributes of greed, selfishness and just plain nastiness may have evaporated and a generation of empathetic considerate individuals will stand in their place. If any good comes out of this mess it will be this.

Bottom line they(the young) should watch the footage on the news taken from an Italian ICU. And seriously ask themselves do they want to see themselves or more likely loved one/s fighting for their lives like that. If EVERYONE gets very serious few a few months it will no doubt save thousands of lives. IF not though it doesn't bear thinking about.

Sloane Street/Square in London last night - boy racers with their penis extensions and their admirers.

With absolute morons like these around we are going to be far worse than Italy in a month or so.

If any of their older relatives/friends get ill they will be the first to whine for sympathy on social media as well.

Selfish chav bastards.

I agree, and it isn't just the younger ones who simply aren't getting it.
My next door neighbour is in his late 50's, he runs a shop so obviously he is still out in the community.
He thinks all the news and the daily government updates is totally over the top and somehow done to scare the people.

Let the healthy younger people get it.  They will live and become part of the herd immunity.  We need to keep the numbers down who are getting it in the severe form that require ICU and hospital treatment.  When the number of people who get it in the severe form are more than the hospitals can handle, then you get what Italy and now Spain are becoming.  Nearly 400 people have died in Spain over the past 24 hours because of it.

In Italy they are already concentrating on the under 60's in hospitals, they don't have enough medics or equipment to try to save the older and more vulnerable....and it does make sense.

Dr's have always had to prioritise which one to save and which one to let go, just not on this scale.

Being in that older age bracket myself, as you often like to point out, it's not something to look forwards to, but it may come to this if the worse scenario happens.

There's a lot of people who still think this is something and nothing.   I think, too, that one's immune system and how strong that is, is going to be key in how this pans out.    Just because you're relatively young, doesn't mean that's not shot to shit.   Smokers. People who don't exercise.  Poor diet.  Drink. Drugs.    It all adds up to compromising your immune systems.   So, sooner or later, younger ones will start to fall.

Seems to me they'll allow some poor person suffering in agony from cancer to linger and linger and our care homes are chock full of people alive long past their time, kept artificially going with drugs.  That's as much playing God in my eyes, as choosing to save one person over another.

It's the way this kills you that's so fucking scary.   Anyone who's ever had an asthma attack will tell you how agonising that is.    What must be so much worse is watching those people fight for breath, the fear they're experiencing as they slowly suffocate.   If they know these people won't survive, put them out of their misery.   Don't let them linger.    You wouldn't do it to a dog...why do it to a human being?   Put them in an artificially induced coma and just let them go.

All people are getting it but the overwhelming majority that are getting it in the severe form are the elderly and those with underlying health issues.

I have heard that the reason why there have been more recoveries in China than in Italy is because of demographics and the ability of the medical system to respond.   In Italy the main contagion is in the north and Lombardy.  Another +651 have been recorded as dying over the past 24 hours in Italy bringing the total up to +5476.  Meanwhile China it has been contained with additional 6 deaths in the past 24 hours bringing their total to 3,261.  Germany seems to be containing it as well.

Of course these younger university educated people when they get it need to stay clear of their grandparents.  But once they have recovered then they can help their grandparents with shopping etc and will be part of the "herd".

An 18 year old has just died.   Not sure whether they had health conditions.   People will just have to self isolate.  As for Italy, they have a huge elderly population and they're a nation of smokers.    Which is perhaps why so many males are dying as opposed to females.   70 percent men are the victims of the virus.    Most likely been smoking for decades.

 Lol.

The Earth is already starting to replenish itself as humans have been forced to self isolate, even in such a brief amount of time.

Dolphins have been seen back off the coast of Italy due to the lack of cruise liners.

The rivers in Venice are so clear you can actually see the fish! happy This is unheard of.

Mother Earth is looking after herself by producing the Coronavirus which is it's own vaccination against the virus which is constantly attacking it.

That is us. We are the virus.

So no "Anon", I won't give it a "fucking " rest. Humans need to learn if they continue to destroy their  precious home it will of course try and protect itself from their attacker.  Us. If we can't even respect each other whst chance have we respecting the Earth?

I wonder if that is the reason why the % of men dying is so much higher than women, many older women have smoked though, so I'm not sure.
Younger people seem to be getting it and suffering serious complications also, it isn't just affecting very elderly people or people with serious underlying health issues.

"They are not your grandparents. They are your colleague, your boss, your Pilates buddy. They are people very much still contributing to society who would perform well on any standard measure of fitness.
I want you to know that young people can and do become critically unwell and die from COVID-19. A colleague of mine is currently looking after several patients under the age of 40, all on ventilators.
We know from other countries that most of these younger patients will survive. But they will take a long time to recover - often in a hospital."

You might wanna read the above.

And yes Digger the 18 year old had underlying conditions. Still obviously an absolute tragedy. In fact over the last several days the statistics that I've seen for the UK say that every person who sadly died had underlying conditions. However I don't think anyone can be seen as 'safe' from this. Everyone really has to do their very best at avoiding being exposed. That obviously will have a knock-on effect and will create a situation where less people get exposed per se.

 Interesting.

Smoking does seem to have a connection in the death toll, and no  doubt then tests will follow on the % of women who take estrogen based HRT medication compared to women who don't who have died of the virus.
