How are people getting on self isolating?

This is the 7th week for me, and I cant say I have found it that much of a hardship. In normal times I am out and about at least 5 or 6 days of every week, and I thought staying home would be very hard, but it hasn't been, in fact, I am enjoying the peace and quiet.
There is hardly any traffic about, a distant motorway is almost silent most of the day, in fact birdsong and the occasional tractor working the fields are the loudest sounds to be heard now.

If it wasn't for the horrendous news that brings home exactly why we are self isolating, this could almost feel like an extended holiday.

I find i'm constantly stressed, and my mental health is in a rapid decline. I'm classed as vulnerable because of a pre existing health issue, so I can't go out at all. I just want to live a normal life again.

I don't think you are alone. Try to phone friends and family, speaking to people, especially if you live alone, will help.

And it will be over sooner or later, and you will be able to get out and about again.

Thank you, yes, I am trying to talk to people as often as I can but I just feel alone. I know we're all in the same boat, and I need to look forward and see that light at the end of the tunnel, but it's just so difficult right now. A brighter tomorrow maybe, hopefully anyway x

I hear of lots of people who are having a really hard time with the lockdown.

I imagine living alone, or cooped up with no outside space, being unable to get food delivered and unable to get your own supplies are all things that would make a bad situation even worse.
There are organisations that can help with most practical things.

If anyone is really struggling I hope they ask for help.

Thank you JD. It's true though, there are people locally who can help if anyone is strugglng.

One good thing that has happened is that many people have organised groups to help others out if they need it.

Also established organisations like the CAB will always give phone numbers of local services.

Our local radio Station GMR has lists of people and groups who are offering various services, presumably local radio in all parts of the country have similar lists.

Thankfully, I wont have to find out. I never had to, and we are easing back on restrictions by Friday.

As much as I have been out recently, it seems most people weren't staying home anyway.

There was some pretty good compliance for a few weeks here, but folks are not staying home anymore. They are wearing masks inside stores and doing the whole social distancing thing. But the hustle and bustle is back.

Well from what you have said when talking about numbers of people in your state that have been diagnosed or died of the virus, it has worked for you.

Obviously it hasn't worked in other parts of America where the overall total of people who have contracted the virus  has now topped one million.

 Simple and straightforward.

I bet many kids will look back at this time with fond feelings though, no school, lots of playtimes and bonding more with family.

I think it's to do with more testing as the USA has carried out many more tests, so more identified than the UK. The USA has a population about 11 times the size of England so in context they are doing well and I hope it contiunes. Just praying for a vaccine and before that some medicine that stops this virus.

Yep, all those factors come into force.

Hopefully not too many Yanks (sorry Maddog) don't follow the idiots advice about disinfectant being a possible medication.

Anyone who actually believes a word that moronic orange bag of wind and piss says deserves all they get.

It would remove a few idiots from the gene pool that's for certain.

Yeah, Texas has about half the population of the UK and we have about 25 deaths a day. Might be fewer than we have from shooting each other.  wink

Not many people are talking about population density. I think it plays a major part in what has fucked us here in the UK. People should look up the figures.

He's an idiot, but he never suggested anyone take anything. He did wonder if doctors could use the information about sunlight, alcohol and bleach killing the virus in some sort of treatment which sounded dumb when he said it..

He thinks out loud, which makes him look stupid. I was listening when he said it and rolled.my eyes which happens a lot when he goes off on one of his musings.

But TDS makes folks run with stuff and .misrepresent stuff he says. Because even with people dying, poliitcal.points need to made. After all, we have an election coming up.

I did see his blustering attempt at suggesting ways to treat the virus, he was dead serious, I also saw him backtracking trying to pretend he was being sarcastic.

I know it's sad that in todays climate people are using rival politicians to score political points, but he is just so stupid in his case it really cant be avoided.

The facts that his followers blindly follow everything he says astonishes me.

Then again as his support base consists of the NRA gun worshippers, far right evangelicals, creationists, anti-abortionists, anti-science nuts and conspiracy theorists I really shouldn't be.

It's like a cult.

Yeah, he needs to let doctors and scientists do their thing. His ego doesn't allow for that though. But after awhile you realize he throws a lot of shit against the wall to see what sticks.

It's a crazy way to act in public when you're the President..

It's a throwback to his  business days when that's how it's done in PRIVATE  meetings.

Hell, if you listen to tapes of politicians being candid behind the scenes they say some crazy shit, but they are well rehearsed by the time the cameras are rolling. The Orange one doesn't do that.

Imo, dt was talking out aloud and he is like that. sounded daft but even i had though about that. he was just saying in a poor way if cleaners could kill 100% of the bacteria could they not be adapted. after all, my mum takes rat poison, well modified version for blood thinning, if you see what i mean. warfarin it's called.
