In a free society, you will always have those that look at risks differently. 

 I agree somewhat. A free society always will have inherent risks because it's free. It seems to me that at the moment people want some magic bullet against risk which doesn't exist and never has.

Also risk can be a fairly subjective area depending on the individual.

 As Jefferson said, he prefers "the dangerous seas of liberty, over the calm seas of despotisim" or something to that effect.

I am now three weeks into self isolation.
Managing OK...the good weather a few days ago helped, having my OH here with me is a Godsend, I think it would be more difficult for me if I lived alone, though I know a few people who do, and they are also coping really well.

I think Brits are better at being hermits because you have shitty weather. Sorta like Yankees here in the states.

Texans just dont do the whole staying inside as well as others. At least not this Texan.

Even 100 degree weather won't keep me inside. Rain and cold will, to a degree.

 I agree, the weather here is often bad and the best place to be is inside.

On the plus side Spring is here and nicer weather is on the horizon, so hopefully we will be getting out in the gardens and out for a bit of exercise.

 It takes some acclimating and even then it can be dangerous. You can be outside in that heat, but you need to modify your behavior. 

 

It's why Mexicans are fond of the siesta in the middle of the day.

I don't like any extremes of weather myself, neither too hot or cold.

English winters are horrible for the greyness of them.

What I cant understand is why are garden centres which are now closed are not operating online and advertising home deliveries.

I saw on TV a couple of days ago a grower saying all his plants will have to be destroyed because no one is buying....so why not deliver to the many homeowners who will no doubt be spending more time in their gardens in the coming weeks/months than ever before.?

Of the American States isn't New York said to have the closest climate to that of the UK?

 Good for you. I have ordered some annuals from shopping channel QVC, I do like their stuff.

I would however have loved to support local garden centres had they been operating online, but they don't seem to be.

 I'd imagine it's because people think the plants will be damaged in transit. Could be wrong and it does seem a waste and not great for the garden centres.

 I was under the impression it gets much hotter than the UK, winters more severe too.

 

I think the states closer to the Canadian border might be similar though.
