What I cant understand is why are garden centres which are now closed are not operating online and advertising home deliveries.
I saw on TV a couple of days ago a grower saying all his plants will have to be destroyed because no one is buying....so why not deliver to the many homeowners who will no doubt be spending more time in their gardens in the coming weeks/months than ever before.?
Does anyone know what is happening to the animals in pet shops and if pet shops go bust do the animals get destroyed?

I'd imagine it's because people think the plants will be damaged in transit. Could be wrong and it does seem a waste and not great for the garden centres.
If shopping channels like QVC and Ideal world, plus some of the bigger growers deliver, I don't see why smaller places couldn't. It would save them going under and it would help their customers too....win win.

I was thinking that as I have to get out to get pet supplies. AFAIA pet shops are staying open. I don't know what happens if the place goes bust. I'd hope they get sent out to rescue centres rather than destroyed. That's shit.
Don't know what Maddog is on about. We get a mighty heatwave once every 20 years.
Of the American States isn't New York said to have the closest climate to that of the UK?
I was under the impression it gets much hotter than the UK, winters more severe too.
I think the states closer to the Canadian border might be similar though.
Granted I haven't heard that comparison for a while. But its what I used to hear.
Maybe those people weren't anything like an expert on America's climate after all.
Don't quote me on it, I might be wrong. I usually am
Maybe Maddog will enlighten us.
I would say Seattle or San Fran has a climate year round more like the UK. New York is a little warmer in the summer and colder in the winter. Because of the rotation of the ocean currents, our West Coast has weather like the UK and Europe. Seattle is like the UK, LA is like Spain.
And Texas can have any damn weather you like at any time. And if you don't like it, just wait 5 minutes. It will change.
It's a bit like that in the UK.
Today for eg, heavy rain, followed by sunshine hot enough to sunbathe in, right now a freezing cold wind has arrived....and the sky is half heavy and grey, half bright clear blue, I think the grey is going to win though.
