I love the giraffe especially, and the elephants trunk ...can you imagine that suddenly appearing on your worktop?

Fabulous photography.

Really beautiful but is it false colour Digs?

Anyway Zeus the blind owl looked like saw the untold depths of the cosmos - sadly I can find nothing about him after the story broke.

Jacinda is perhaps the most impressive world leader around due to her excellent handling (amongst other things) of the Christchurch Mosque Shootings and COVID-19 crisis.

This made me laugh - she is so cool and funny, I wonder if the bumbling 'macho' men like Trump or Bolsonaro would have reacted in a similar manner?

I very much doubt it.

She was fairly cool in that video.

I loathe her handling of the Christchurch shooting though. She just decided to confiscate weapons from law abiding citizens. That's just draconian. Plenty of politicians have done that.

That is where you and I differ on gun control - so that's not really surprising MD.

Sometimes science can be so profound and utterly beautiful at the same time. nod

This image from the VLT of an exoplanet being born 520 light years away is simply breathtaking.

Perhaps this is very similar to what the earth looked like before it's formation over 4.5 billion years ago?

Yes, you favor confiscation. I favor freedom.

I don't care what kind of guns you own. None of my business.

Yes but what do you think of the incredible rate of mass shootings in the US?

The horrifying tragedy of Sandy Hook for example MD.

With respect I would say that The Second Amendment (regardless of it's late 18 century context) and the very high rates of religious belief (particularly in the Bible Belt) are the two of the main differences between the UK and the US (and most of Europe).

I think people killing innocent people is a bad idea. I'm against it. I think the folks that wrote the 2nd Amendment felt the same way.

A Houston woman shot a masturbating man who tried to break into her home Tuesday, police said. The woman, who is in her sixties, was taking out her garbage when she saw the man committing the lewd act while he was riding a bicycle, she told police. Authorities said she yelled at him to stop and after that, he followed her to her door. The man then tried to break in, according to the police report. The woman told him to go away and that she had a gun, but he allegedly refused to stop. She then fired one round, which struck him in the chest. The suspect is said to have gotten back on his bike and attempted to pedal away, but collapsed. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive. The man was out on bond for a different exposure charge. No charges have been filed against the woman. “I would have done the same thing if it were my house,” a neighbor told the Houston Chronicle. “Ain’t no telling what else he was going to do or what he’s got. She was protecting her property.”
