It seems that after particular incidents there are mass banings of forum members not woke to the situation.  The Floyd incident has led to mass bans.  One person was banned for saying the protests endangered lives for breaking social distance.   DS Support says that argument won't be tolerated because it is deflecting from the issue.

Yes that's a perfect example of DS since Hearst took over, even someone making a perfectly logical statement will be swiftly banned by the woke collective.

I have not read there in ages but I can just imagine the threads, anyone who dares to state an opinion slightly different to the endless virtue signalling is automatically branded a 'racist'.

Hyde Park for example - it makes me furious to see the scenes of them all jam packed like sardines, people seem to think that 'only' almost 400 a day still dying from this disease here is an excuse to do what they like.

If I was still a DS member posting this science article on the very topic above would have got me instantly banned.

I see the repulsive Cactus Jack is spewing it's bile on Dogs.

It hasn't changed since the days of SOL when he was a weirdo with numerous usernames and used to agree with himself.

He did the same on Dogs actually, he was always posting as a guest to back itself up.

Scraping the barrel having it on your forum.

Oh and I see Cactus is accusing a guest on dogs of suffering from hallucinations and suggests they see a doctor...

Priceless coming from someone who tells everyone they grew up in Northern Ireland and suffered greatly from being a Catholic there, when they actually grew up in the Republic of Ireland.

He was caught out on SOL about that and a few other things.

Someone was banned from DS for posting this "Why no protests when a white person has been killed?"

I have seen at least 15 people banned in recent days from DS.   DS Support has recently stated that "obviously White Privilege exists" and can now start banning people for doubting its existence.  They have already supported a statement that says all people that voted for the Conservatives are racist because Boris Johnson is a proven racist - they removed all posts that criticized that statement and then closed the thread to further comment.

Another DS Forum Member was banned for bringing up George Floyd's criminal past - labelled as irrelevant and deflection.

It's irrelevant in relation to the way he died.   Shouldn't matter what he's done, to be treated like that was wrong.

A lot of people don't understand why so much fuss is made of this specific case.  Why this particular death has received 24/7 news coverage in the UK.  Ageism - many of the aged just don't understand why this is being broadcast to them in the UK on their radios and television with dedicated Black Tuesdays and Take the Knee Wednesdays.  It is those more than most that are falling foul of the era of wokeness.   The person that brought up George Floyd's criminal past stated clearly they thought his death was wrong and shocking but wondered why he was being made a martyr and a saint.  Of course this type of comment I have just made is being removed by the DS moderators with warnings and various bans being given.

I know plenty of young people who can't understand what this has to do with the UK, and why our 'white supremacist' past is being raked up yet again.

A lot of this is that it gives people an excellent excuse for failure in their lives - 'I had to become a drug dealer/gangster/criminal/waste of space because I had no chance due to the colour of my skin.'

The American comedian Chris Rock once did a (very controversial now I expect) routine on the subject in 1996 - I would post a link but despite he himself and the audience being black it would somehow be accused of being 'racist'.

Edit - also the difference between the UK and US on this issue is like night and day, there are a few bad apples here as in any institution but the woke collective comparing our police forces to those in the US with regard to discrimination and brutality is absolutely laughable.

Digital Spy announced yesterday they are closing down their General Discussion and Politics Forums.   I found them useful to evaluate opinion.  However, DS have decided those two forums caused more problems than it was worth, given it was not really relevant to their showbiz and entertainment focus.   They are also closing the showbiz thread but I think there are other sections that covers that.

"Support (22/03/21  11:00 am)

Hi

We are making some changes to Digital Spy Forums. In the coming days we will begin rolling out updates that will bring the forums more in line with our editorial website and help refocus our discussion platform.

Starting this week, we will begin making changes to the forum index by updating, archiving and adding to our discussion boards.

We will be putting three of our existing forums into read-only mode. Showbiz, General Discussion and Politics will no longer be listed on the main forum index and will be moved to our new Forum Archive. Forums moved to the Forum Archive will no longer be active and will not be able to receive new threads or posts, but they will still be accessible to read and search.

.....

We will also be creating a new Forum Announcements forum on the main index that will be a read-only forum for site updates, our Community Guidelines, our FAQ, a changelog and any other necessary information relating to DS Forums from Support.

You will also see quality-of-life improvements and updates in relation to forum names, descriptions and other areas of the forum as we continue to evaluate the community and refocus our platform.

Thank you for reading,

Digital Spy Forum Support"

Quite a few are claiming with the closure of the General Discussion and Politics Forums, traffic to Digital Spy will greatly decrease.   However, I don't think that is the case when it comes to relevant traffic, and numbers of different individuals accessing the site.   I think that General Discussion and Politics has ended up being dominated by a relatively small number of people that spend a lot of their time accessing, writing and reading comments, who don't at all bother with the main site.  So with the closure of those two forums I don't think Digital Spy as a business will suffer.  Instead they might be saving some money by decreasing the numbers of moderators they employ.  I expect the many of the moderators have been kept busy by a number of serial alerters mainly from General Discussion and Politics (as well as showbiz).

Some are suggesting that the closure of the General Discussion and Politics Forums follows on from a well known actress, writer, social influencer complaining to Hearst and possibly threatening them with legal action and bad publicity about anti-Semitic posts posted in the Politics Forum.

However I haven't seen anything overtly anti-Semitic posted on the Politics Forum that you wouldn't see elsewhere in the mainstream media or in the Labour party or in Universities - such as in the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement which seeks to deplatform Jewish Israelis and boycott and divest from Israeli businesses and anybody that does business with Israel.  The DS moderation team would have removed anything conspicuously and directly anti-Semitic.

I don't think we have any DS posters on here, and their posters probably don't even know this place exists...so I doubt the closure of any or all of the DS forum will be of much interest to anyone here.

From making the announcement 26 hours all those threads have been deactivated - politics, general discussion and showbiz have all been frozen and archived.

I think several posters here as well as maybe some guests were big users of DS and so would be interested in the news and the speed at which it occurred.   I know there is another forum where such discussion may occur but not everyone can or wants to post other there.

I loved it until I was banned - I got a reprieve from a perma twice because people liked my posts on science and other stuff in General and on Soap so people complained to the mods.

But it became so PC after Hearst took over as to be impossible to display any opinion not approved by the Woke Collective, plus I am certain a few from Dogs kept complaining to get me banned - some sad twat spent many days disliking every single post I had ever made on my Astronomy, Palaeo, Archaeology and Nature threads!

The sports thread was fun as well.
