I have never heard of Mary Beard, seems she suffered a lot at the hands of online trolls....poor lady.
She is amazing. “Elderly“ at 65. She hasn’t even got her pension yet!
The post you refer to agreed she was amazing, and said nothing but positive things regarding her.
Just because they used one clumsy adjective why pretend a post that praised Mary Beard from beginning to end was a negative one? That's not clutching straws, that's breaking them all from sheer desperation !
Trolls attempt to twist facts and smear reputation's as many people know only too well. Some men may enjoy it and I pity such men, why have they nothing better to do one wonders.
She is a very inspiring person because she actually befriended one of the most vile trolls. The online abuse she endured was probably one of the worst instances to be witnessed. She did actually let it get to her briefly but then messaged one back who was making intimidating sexually references and calling her ugly, to put it mildly. A discourse began and he apologised for his continual targeting of her. She learnt he had low self esteem and was unemployed which worried him. So they met and she helped him get a job!:lesson:
The abuse was all based on her looks of course and she looked absolutely fine, just seemed to annoy men for having long silver hair and not wearing make up. :re: She is an academic and a lady not to be trifled with! My mum is 67 and would give me a stern ticking off if I dared called her elderly so if I were to do in a post I would surely apologise for any offence caused.
The reason that I admire her is she is the only person I know if who has befriended and helped a troll who harassed and targeted her for his own amusement. She genuinely forgave him and that's not an easy thing to do I'm sure but she was a kind lady :sunny:

I read about her befriending her trolls, she sounds quite awe inspiring, plus she has achieved so much in her life.
She probably evokes online nastiness because she makes others feel inferior, it's their way of hitting back.

Simple. You, you're the threads. But me, I'm the rope.
Just goes to show how the world revolves around how you look. Good looking people definitely don't get the fuzzy end of the lollipop.
Good looking women get trolled too , and with alot of venom. I would say it's women in general who get the most trouble online whether they look good, bad, average, have two heads, . I really think it's best to just have a small social media account which only family and friends see.
A stunning model who admittedly is a bit full of herself posted pics on social media. And welcome to the comments section of the Daily Fail..
Oh.My.Days. She has chunky thighs, her face looks weird, she needs a paper bag on her head, she belongs in a Zoo. On and on it goes..the comments are describing a completely different person to the lady pictured. They don't correlate at all.
If a model gets trolled like that, by both genders, no wonder real women don't stand a chance! Men simply don't get anywhere near the same level of abuse and they are allowed to look how they please.

For Gods sake, cant some people ever let anything go?? That was written 6 years ago, and everyone who was around at that time knows that the abuse thrown around was certainly not one way....no one came out of that looking good.
