Where I live in the NW of England the R rate has crept up to 1.1. We have been told repeatedly that anything above 1 will result in reviewing and possibly strengthening lockdown measures. Well in my area it IS above 1 again, but lockdown measures are being slackened...even moreso from the weekend.
There won’t be a second spike because we now have test and trace. The government says this will work.
Of course if anyone does have symptoms then isolate for 14 days.
The government is always right - ask JP.
Syl you and I are wrong regarding where we live because the R is not at 1 or over, the government said so!!

Isolate for 14 days and die at home Just as thousands of others have. On the news earlier, family calling for an enquiry for just that. It’s what I said at the beginning and my view has not changed.Stay at home and die, don’t bother us, we really don’t want to know.

It was all about protecting the nhs. They won’t be protected when we get a second wave.

Well given that yet again there are going to be mass demonstrations all over the fucking country I feel a second wave is almost inevitable and who are the most vulnerable group with regard to COVID-19?
Who will be going back to their communities and then whining and complaining that it's all someone else's fault when the infection rate spikes again?
It really pisses me off.
Anyway someone give me a hug because I need one.

If you have been following the lockdown rules you will know that giving and receiving hugs has been in very short supply over the last 3 months.
From weekend the rules will relax a bit for people who live on their own. They will be able to visit one of their friends or families homes, and HUG as much as they like....go indoors, have meals, stay over, whatever they like. Lovers who have been apart can meet and resume their relationships.
That's good news for people who have been isolating alone....and one step nearer getting life back on track for all of us.
But it's too dangerous with R bring some close to 1 and actually higher is 1 in some parts of England!
I totally understand people wanting and needing to see their loved ones but the sad fact is its just too soon and the Government is irresponsible.
As scientific experts have finally had the courage to say the Government going into lockdown a week late doubled the amount of fatalities. Their incompetence cost thousands of lives and scientists would not claim this lightly with their reputation's as stake.
In Wales children living in poverty are being given a free meal a day as if in school, even if not actually attending. England are not doing this for some reason. They are still using stricter lockdown rules there too. I don't think this "bubble" is occurring there until it's safer to do so.
I couldn't go and hug my loved ones from another household with the R higher than it was at some points during the proper lockdown. It doesn't make sense. My mother is so distressed and would love to hug us but she can't ignore the dangers even if the PM can. The whole point was to self isolate and stay indoors whilst R was high and it still is high, just not in London. It's almost as if only the capital matters to the Government. It may be safe to practice the bubble in London but not so in many places in England, the science dictates it-so why is Johnson endangering more people yet again?
I just urge those living near regions where R is 1 (if this occurs the PM said he would call a 2nd lockdown yet he hasn't)wanting to see elderly relations to resist just until the science confirms it's a little less dangerous.
The R is below 1. Did you not listen to the CSO just yesterday? They take into account what 13 separate models tell them. Overall the R is below 1.
You really need to listen more carefully. You might type some accurate information then.
As for the experts. There's loads of them. With wide and varied opinions.

The R might be below 1 where you live JP.
But It isn’t like that in certain parts of the country.
There are a few politicians that have broken the rules, eh JP.
Didn’t the guy from sage resign?
Wrong. The overall consensus when all the info they have is taken into account is that the R is below 1. The Chief Scientific Officer said this just yesterday. He obviously sits on SAGE. I wish everyone would listen to the latest info as a whole. Not just pick out tit-bits of info. Out of those 13 models, 1 just 1, said the R was above 1 in two areas of the Country. The others did not. And guess what much of the mainstream media went with that ONE model. That was the sole basis of their info. Never mind the other 12.
He resigned yes. Going to someone else's house or them coming to yours for a shag was not permitted in any guidance or rules, anywhere at the time.
Eh yes there are. Several people, Tory linked, and Labour linked, MPs or otherwise haven't resigned. Maybe some should have, and some shouldn't. People will obviously have differing opinions on that. That's just how it is.
Thanks for that JD, I didn't know one model stated one area in England was above 1, I thought it was just 1. That's shocking.
The bottom line is in some regions of England it is far closer to R than it was during lockdown yet the safety legislation is slowly being eradicated. Ergo more people will catch the virus, that's just simple stats because R is higher and less people are self isolating. Here is a sole model JP-
Higher R + more people socialising =Much higher risk of more cases of Covid= lockdown rules being eased.
I don't understand why you get annoyed with people posting this information. Many people are disgusted with the Government, scientists from other countries can't believe how late the PM activated lockdown considering the knowledge about Covid he had 3 months prior.
Everyone on social media and television has accepted there are only a few places where R is 1 and is on the analysis phase, you seem to be behind saying it hadn't happened when it's already established it has . What Twizzler said is the same statistics I was told by the media...and apparently everyone else.
You are allowed to think differently of course but you could challenge the post not the poster i.e dispute the claims with your own evidence without insults that undermine your point.
Those who said I was wrong last week. Are right this week. lol
SAGE themselves for the first time have estimated that one region is above 1 right now. It is the first time SAGE have gave us regional data specifically! Others have before, but SAGE hasn't. South West is 1.1. And additionally as of today, England stands at 0.8 to 1. The UK as a whole remains at 0.7 to 0.9.
Personally I'm not worried yet. A small shift is inevitable. When you make any sort of easing there is going to be some shift. The Scientists have said so themselves. The key is obviously how high it goes and how long it stays above 1. Obviously you don't want it to stay above 1 for a prolonged period of time at all!

You honestly believe what they say on those briefings JP? Not one of them can talk the truth, they have been saying one thing for weeks, then change their minds completely!

I have an issue because the Government are telling people to go out and shop due to the economic collapse when R is much higher than at lockdown. There doesn't necessarily need to be any shift over R JD, close to R sure but not over it. That means lockdown must be enforced immediately, well that's what the PM said when this all began. R had to be kept below 1, that was the main incentive.
The folk in the SW must be worried beyond, we are talking about human life JD. I just hope the elderly and vulnerable in these areas are self isolating despite the Government compelling people to practice socially distanced shopping.

And. Yeah. Yeah.
Well course you're not worried because you don't live there do you.
Just lol. LOL.
See how easy it is to be glib and obnoxious ? Not everyone who doesn't agree is against you personally. I have enjoyed debating with you as an Anon in the past, you don't need to be defensive.
When ppl are critiquing the Government or Dominic Cummings etc they are not attacking you, everyone is allowed their own opinion and I respect your opinion even though I absolutely do not agree.
If mature debate that doesn't get stroppy bores you then yeah, yeah, away..! Shame though.
I wouldn't be worried about a minute shift in the R here either. A shift is inevitable. How long it lasts is the key. Wait until next week. Do you actually listen to any experts?
Be as obnoxious and glib as you like.
No one has a gun to your head. You don't have to leave your house if you choose no to do so. Self-determination can be practiced by anyone. There will though be many people who actually do want to go out. Who feel it is the right time now.
The Scientists can't even wholeheartedly agree, some of them say the recent tentative decisions made on lockdowns are the right ones. Others say we should still be a in a full lockdown.
Bottom line is that there is no perfect little solutions here. These decisions are pretty much impossible decisions to make. Have you seen the statistics regarding how many people could die just directly due to lockdown itself?
No perfect little decisions. Just opinions. Even the Scientists are still largely just winging it when it comes to this new virus.
Cumming's. That's done to death now.
Attacking me? What are you on about.
Defensive? Yeah answering posts putting across my opinions and views is defensive now is it.
Stroppy. Really. Read some of the words in your own posts back.
One of those guys was on SAGE. Until he broke the rules because he fancied a shag with a married woman.

Seems some people have misinterpreted the relaxing of the lockdown rules this weekend.
Last nigh 6.000 people gathered to two illegal raves in Greater Manchester.
Add one rape, one drugs death, and three stabbings on to the already higher than average R rate in this part of the country.

I suppose if you have very bad hearing and can't work the subtitles you could have heard 6 as 6,000.
In all seriousness its crazy! Mind you those who organise illegal raves and attend them clearly do not care much for rules at any time anyway. So not all too surprising really.
Also sadly not surprising. I'm sure these things didn't happen 20 odd years ago. That could be a didn't happen in my day rose-tinted glasses memory thing going on there.

It's incredible how stupid and selfish so many people really are.

A number of women have been murdered in South Africa in the last week after a surge in the number of domestic violence cases after alcohol went back on sale.

Horrendous. What sort of monster can murder an 8 month pregnant woman?
Elswhere i have just read 440 women were killed by their husbands in Turkey last year.
Here in the UK, there are record highs of partners or ex partners murdering their wives or exes.
I can remember that picture from years ago that said "Every week in the UK, two women leave their abusive partners' and it was a photo of two coffins.
I've never forgotten that image.
I was a teenager at the time and things seem to have got worse not better.
That 'man' who murdered the pregnant woman should be charged with the babies death as well.
There is a charge in the UK called 'Child destruction' it's not used very often but it applies to cases when the baby would have survived outside the womb.
Hopefully South Africa have a similar charge.
The last time I heard of it being used here was the horrendous murder of nineteen year old Nikitta Grender who was stabbed to death when she was eight and a half months pregnant.
