A swan whose unborn cygnets were killed when vandals smashed up her nest with bricks has died.
It is believed the swan died from a "broken heart" just weeks after her unhatched eggs were targeted by yobs in Bolton.
A group of teenage boys were spotted throwing bricks and rocks along Manchester Canal in Kearsley on May 20.
They were aiming for the island where the swans had left their eggs and only three of the six survived.
Wildlife activists who had been keeping an eye on the swans said more eggs had been lost in recent weeks any only one remained.
They said the male swan left the nest around two weeks ago and had not returned since.
It is believed he had been driven away by stress.

ahhh, Diggs - kinda had to steel myself to read your OP. No way could I click on the link!
In reply to your question - yes, because they make it so easy...
Incredibly upsetting. Swans are so protective of their nests, I can well imagine the bird died of a broken heart.
How wonderful life is while you're in the world.
I read this earlier, heartbreaking. Hi hope they can be brought to justice and that jogger kicking a chick who died, let's all do the same to him!
Peace

I wish the animal cruelty laws in this country were far, far tougher.
It makes me so furious - what sort of scum gets pleasure from hurting such beautiful and innocent animals?
Simple. You, you're the threads. But me, I'm the rope.
