I agree with you both. If you gamble you have to accept the consequences if you lose, and it is a gamble going abroad right now....as the holidaymakers in Spain are finding out.
Not exactly on topic but is anyone getting sick and tired of those in Spain on the news bloody whining about the new quarantine regulations?
They chose to go abroad in the middle of a pandemic (which is still escalating around the world) so I have no sympathy at all.
Exactly, Boris did say non essential travel. But people are so bloody selfish.
What did these people think was going to happen? You all swarm to Spain,
of course they will be a spike.
There was no social distancing on the beach, they were packed in like sardines.
Exactly, millions in this country have not taken any bloody notice of advice they have been given which is possibly why we have the third highest death toll in the world.

True, like those Brighton packed beaches weeks and weeks ago now. And those large protests. But all things considered we've done pretty well since things have been eased like 6 weeks ago that really started.
Definitely hard to predict a lot of this. Everyone should always err on the side of caution though. That for sure is the right way to go still.

Just to add. I think millions and millions have taken notice. But and its a bit but, in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't take all that many people to go against advise for the shit to hit the fan!

You get some outstanding deals right now. Guy in the office is going to Disneyworld next week. It's stupid how cheap the prices are right now. And there are basically no lines too.
Hope he brings me back a T shirt and not the Rona.
I think people are getting frustrated because the islands in Spain have a very low infection rate, yet people who are returning still have to quarantine for 2 weeks....same as if they have visited mainland Spain where there has been a spike in certain areas.
The government have now said they cant rule out adding yet more countries on the list to need quarantine on return.
Yesterday in the UK I read the death figure was below 10....the first time since March, and this even though lockdown has eased here and as we have said, so many people are disregarding social distancing.
So...all in all things are looking up.

The Government can't win. Act quick people moan. Act what some think is too slow and people moan. I get why people may feel frustrated with the situation, but they should try putting themselves in the shoes of those making these snap decisions and Judgements from time to time.
I can see why initially you would go for a quick blanket quarantine on Spain. And then follow that up over coming days with a more bespoke plan. That's what is currently happening as far as I can tell.
Personally I think travelling abroad at this time simply for pleasure is too big a gamble to take.
I know the travel companies are trying to tempt people back, but at what cost?

I know I've said it before. And it may be a simplistic reply.
But there are no great answers to be suggested by anyone. Any decision made will always have some adverse consequences for a number of people.
Everyone just has to live with it. What else can you do.

I think even next year will be risky too.
Well the US, Brazil, Mexico are just as bad as ever from daily death figures and now India is rapidly catching up, there is a possible second wave in Europe and many other countries are weeks away from their peak (South Africa for example).
The global situation will only get worse until that first effective vaccine - and what about those who refuse to have it, will they be allowed to put other's lives in danger?
I think it should be compulsory unless there is a bloody good medical reason.

We have decided that when we do go abroad again, and it definately wont be this year, we will just wait till it feels right, then just book somewhere a few days before we go.
We might not get the same variety to choose from but usually there are some decent last minute holidays available.

You cant force people to have vaccinations, education is the best way.

Odd how every other guest post lately seems to be about pointing out the imagined size of the members on here....most don't even make it on the board btw, so why bother?
