"A man who believes that women and men are equal and should be free to do the same things, and who does tasks and shows emotions that were traditionally considered only suitable for women:"
Now, that suggests you weren't too sure yourself what 'new man' meant, as it looks like you're quoting someone else there.
No...that suggests I gave you the dictionary definition that you were too thick/lazy or both to google yourself.
The Anon that replied wasn't the Anon that asked the question. I didn't reply because the answer seemed fair enough. I could have provided a critique of the terms liberated women and the new man but since you never invented the terms I didn't think that would have been a relevant reply. However ordinary people are using these terms and their understanding of these terms might vary. So there may be a dictionary definition of the term but dictionaries are not the origin of those definitions.
The dictionary, and they also vary in description depending on which dictionary you read, gives a concise unemotional description of the word or phrase used.
People can add or detract their own words to what they may think is meant.
By all means put your own interpretation on what a 'new man' or a 'liberated woman' means to you.
For me a liberated woman is simply a woman who believes herself to be an equal, and chooses how she wants to live her life. If just as liberated to stay home and bring up kids as it is to be a career woman, if that's her choice.
A new man...no such thing. Some men have always shown feelings and considered women to be equal and lived their lives accordingly, some haven't...and never will.
That will be a compliment, actually they were a highly sophisticated people, the 19th century brutish stereotype is utter bollocks MD!
Not sophisticated enough to adapt. Hence I'm one of the few of my kind to remain.
Good point but luck often plays a part in extinction after all if not for the KP-g event the non-avian dinosaurs would still be in charge (arguably they still are as birds have twice as many extent species as mammals).
