FFS.

I should have seen this coming from the BBC, very soon we will have no culture left whatsoever because everything is deemed so very 'offensive' to someone.

Sick of this.  I love Last night at the proms because of these stirring songs.  I turn my tele up singing along.  Such bloody killjoys.  We're becoming a nation of misery guts.  Be Jerusalem next! sbx

This is interesting. Who are those trying to restrain him from saying that? Advisors I guess? Totally agree with what he said here though.

I want to hear personal opinions and views from whomever is the PM. I don't vote for advisors or whomever.

Trying to "protect" the few has gone way too far now. Freedom of expression and speech has gone to pot.

I bet back in Thatcher's day you got more of what her actual personal views and opinions were basically almost all of the time. Not what others wanted her to say. Or thought she should say.

Chi-Chi (not a Panda but the one who started it all) - piss off and go whine somewhere else because I am sure millions of 'conscious' black people really enjoy these songs without fainting from horror.

'Chi-chi Nwanoko runs the Chineke! Foundation, which aims to provide opportunities for black, Asian and ethnically diverse classical musicians in the UK and Europe.

She told the BBC: "We find it offensive.

"For any conscious black person who is aware of their history, the empire and colonialism, for example, they will struggle to enjoy the patriotic jingoism of these songs."'

None of my black friends find it offensive.  The general consensus was....Who cares?

Exactly!

I hate it when someone claims to speak for everyone when actually they are only speaking for themselves - it's so incredibly arrogant.

I have never claimed that - so nice try but no cigar. bored

CH4 and Olusaga are now jumping on the BLM bandwagon, A House Through Time is an excellent series and he is presents the programme so the industry can't be that racist can it?

Apparently someone played Rule Britannia in a library the other day and got kicked out for being a 'racist'.

Who was that bloke from my hometown again?

Oh yes Wilberforce, and the Royal Navy and Europe (following our example) finally ended the African slave trade - by the kings still selling their 'brothers' to the Americans.

The BBC are not very good on their history, or rather they are as long as it is to slag off white people and make us feel guilty about centuries past.

Well not me, most of our ancestors (and even my grandparents to begin with) had to work endless hours for a pittance, lived in an appalling slum or starve.

I always remember Grandad (RIP sir) saying how utterly exhausted his poor father was every single day and they had to eat everything possible to survive, - and then he and Grandma fought valiantly in WW2 from the age of 18.

Yes they all had it so easy BLM UK and Woke/Cancel Culture you fucking twats...

They seem to forget too, that nearly everyone lost a loved one in two world wars.    We've gotten so soft as a society that the terrible hardships people suffered not so long ago are forgotten in the deluge of self pity people indulge in these days.

It always makes me laugh when you see people bleating on about the 'shame' of having to use a food bank.   Food bank?   I wish there'd been fucking food banks when I was struggling to bring my kid up on my own back in the 70's.     You got bugger all from the State, just about enough to stop you from starving completely, but never enough to not go hungry.   It was really hard going back then.   And it must have been worse for our parents and their parents.     Now, they think poverty is no phone or smart TV, and not being able to afford take aways.

Yeah....that /\.

My mum worked three cleaning jobs so she could bring us two girls up single handed....the pittance she got in alimony wouldn't have fed a mouse never mind two girls.
She never complained and we never realised how poor we really were, she made sure of that.
