People refusing to wear masks for the sake of it are irritating, but some are genuinely exempt. The policeman here ...who seemed to be handling this all wrong, might as well as not been wearing one himself the way it was half off his fave.

Yes. Masks are like vaccinations as they are designed to slow the spread of something. You're just never going to get 100 percent compliance. At some point, you just move on and find other hills to die on.
We have folks here that wont wear them. For the most part, they are chastised and then people move on. It's a small enough portion of the population to not make a difference anyway.
Personally I wouldn't say anything to anyone if they were not wearing a mask....though I would say something if anyone was breathing down my neck in public blatantly ignoring social distancing. I think it's up to the shop to ask why a person isn't wearing a mask not me, but in any case, the cop here was way out of line and I do think some are going too far.
Locally, a pub was told to close because the meals they were serving was not considered to be a substantial meal.....the next day they were told, actually, it was OK, they could reopen.

Filming someone in a negative way is aggressive IMO. They need to get rid of these stupid exemptions. They were supposed to be for people who clearly have very serious issues, not people with slight issues who just feel they should be exempt.
That officer needs to get a mask which doesn't keep slipping down though.
If the man had offered to show his exemption card, I'm not sure why the cop didn't defuse the situation by looking at it instead of continuously advancing towards him, which was why the man was filming, which is why the cop was getting increasingly annoyed.
Personally I think the law is easy to break re the wearing of masks.
Anyone can say they are exempt, no one has to carry an exemption card.
Like this man they can kick up a fuss claiming they are being victimised because of their 'disability'.
Maybe, if this virus continues, people should by law have to show a valid exemption card if asked.

And? If you can wear one you are not exempt. Some people spend half their life in hospitals because of asthma attacks some can barely walk and talk at the same time, others rarely have any signs they are asthmatic.
It's like comparing Roy Castle's and Katie Price's cancers.
there is someone on my Twitter who is forever saying my mum has to take an oxygen tank with her when she goes out and still wears a mask. I'm sure many who can't, could if they also had oxygen pumping into their lungs under the mask

Calm down, you'll bust your truss.
I was making the point that not all asthmatics need to wear a mask. But if I wanted to I could argue I had to. And as a registered asthmatic, yes, I'm exempt if I want to be. All I have to say is that the mask makes breathing difficult for me.
Wearing a mask does not reduce a person’s oxygen supply or cause a build up of carbon dioxide. That's a myth some people choose to believe. Mask Exemption cards are downloadable from the Asthma UK website. Anyone could print one off and claim to be exempt.
COPD, on the other hand, is a different disease, and that would make wearing a mask really uncomfortable. You'd be surprised how many people confuse asthma with COPD.
While I dont condone the violence, lecturing people isn't always a good idea. If you ask someone to wear a mask, that's one thing. If you turn into a sanctimonious prat while reciting the rules to them I'm going to have a hard time feeling sorry for you. I don't know how this all went down.
I dont ride much public transportation, but when I do, I've never felt the need to remind people of the rules. Seems like a bad idea.
Yes, I do think it's up to the people who staff these places to ensure everyone is following guidelines however, I always find it hard to blame the victim, especially when they are just pointing out the present rules.
I haven't been on public transport for ages, I wouldn't say anything though, the only time I speak out is if anyone is breathing down my neck totally ignoring social distancing.

Exactly. And we all have been reminded of rules by someone nicely and by people who are just assholes,
There was a video of someone berating a passenger in California for eating on the train. Eating is against the rules and this one passenger spent 5 minutes explaining the rules to the guy eating the sandwich.
I would have been OK with them throwing him off the train.
There is no mention that the man who has been beaten up was in any way rude to these yobs. He is an NHS worker, he is possibly sick to death of seeing people suffering and dying of coronavirus, hardly surprising that he wants people to follow the laws to try to curb the infections.

That's true too.
I was just speculating based on previous examples of rule Nazis.
The three non mask wearers could also be gigantic turds.
Well the three none mask wearers , two men and one woman, are obviously violent thugs.
No matter even if the NHS worker was a pain, no one should be attacked in such a brutal way. The man was struck so hard his eye socket was broken in three places and his jawbone was chipped, then he was flung off the train, whilst the attackers carried on with their journey....arseholes.

No one is following the rules in our town centre I have read. It makes me puke, apparently in Hull Royal Infirmary spitting, assaults and people wishing staff would die from COVID are now common.
There have also been several brutal attacks on NHS members in public such as this one.
I wish I could put all these fucking scumbags on a small lifeless island with no food or water and let them tear each other to pieces before they died.

Some people will use any excuse to be violent....attacking people who are trying to help society in general is the lowest of the low.
I do think though, the majority of people are decent, and even if they are fed up to the back teeth with the way we are having to live right now, they just get on with it without complaint.

Yeah but attacks like this really annoy me, and a nurse wrote in about why our cases are rising so rapidly because so many are totally selfish.

I have seen literally dozens of videos showing non-mask wearers being accosted, abused and attacked and yet we never see these in the media, why is that?
