I was brought up very poor too, not that we knew it, because poverty was all around in the Salford area
where I lived back in the 50's and 60's.

I dont believe that sort of poverty exists in the UK nowadays, we have social services and benifits like you say.
I would hate that sort of poverty to make a comeback....tbh I dont think many people could cope with that sort of hardship now.

We all know this sort of discrimination is coming, but this is a highly underrated film that no one has ever watched - I do hope though that future secular Western governments are not so brutal to those that have genetically disadvantages (I gave up thinking places like Africa and the Middle East could improve decades ago).

Agreed.   It was pretty awful back in those days.

An IQ of 168, just look at her quotes online and yet she is just seen as a dumb blonde wank icon by so many idiots.

This girl had her problems but was a shining star so in many other ways.

MM was beautiful and vulnerable, I think she was probably the most iconic actress who has ever lived.

Of course, she had the good fortune to die young, still vulnerable and always beautiful in the minds of everyone.

Had she lived, she was already being discarded by Hollywood as past it, the men she knew used her, and unfortunately for her she got involved with the wrong men, which is probably, just like Diana , who was also dead at the age of 36, the reason they both died.

Heartwarming to see your adulation for gay icon Marilyn Monroe.

Wasn't MM iconic for many different groups of people?
I'm not gay and I thought she was gorgeous.

Yes because I think she was a gorgeous and sexy woman that must mean I am gay.

Makes total sense.

Are you still in Primary school?

Just wondering.

She was just so pretty.  The proportions of her face were just perfect.  Fat lot of good being beautiful did her, though.

Confidence is what gets you a happy life even if your looks are not especially great. MM was insecure, insecure people are clingy and MM was known to be clingy, thus scaring the men off.  Insecure beautiful people also seem to need to test their prowess destroying good relationships.

I don't see much difference between MM and Anna Nichol Smith (except MM had brains ) both were the same type of people.  I like them both

Do you remember Debbie Harry had a thing about MM being her mum?  She was always saying it in interviews.

Ear worms....no matter how good the song, they get on your nerves after a bit.
I keep hearing this song, and when I don't hear it on the radio it still plays round in my head....worth a listen though.

Incredibly our tiny Island was once the most powerful country the world has ever seen - hard to believe now.

Imperial propaganda it may be but the 'Charge of the Light Brigade' is sheer class as a poem still.

Not very PC but there you go.

Just like Zulu which is probably going to be banned shortly.

Zulu is my favourite film.  Why are they banning this.  It's shows the bravery of the British forces and the sheer power of Zulus,  very iconic historical film.  The Zulu's were a fighting machine and fighting for their land. There was no racism, or anything. Stanley Baker who directed, produced and starred in this film made sure both sides of the conflict  was seen.  So sick of these bloody snowflakes.

John Doe does. But it isn't, he's pushing fake news.
