Lol.....I am surprised people are not already saying this new strain of the virus that is 70% more virulent than the previous ones is not a cover up for Boris to backtrack on his 5 day Christmas amnesty without losing too much face.

It could be sone sort of cover.  We have increasing cases and I haven't heard anyone say it was because of a new strain.  I haven't heard of this new strain being responsible anywhere on the planet, except in the UK.

 This^ isn't correct anymore.

Seems to be a lot of people having bad reactions to the vaccine. Not that MSM is reporting on it.  this is only immediate reactions  and no one knows the long term  effects

I am still worried for those who took the flu shot as remember before the summer they were saying it could make covid worse

showed that flu shots increased fivefold the risk of acute respiratory infections caused by a group of noninfluenza viruses, including coronaviruses. (Cowling et al, Clin Infect Dis 2012;54:1778) From Table 3, vaccine recipients had 20 noninfluenza virus-positive ARIs and 19 virus-negative ARIs; non-recipients had 3 noninfluenza virus-positive ARIs and 14 virus-negative ARIs. These figures yield an odds ratio of 4.91 (CI 1.04 to8.14).

Such an observation may seem counterintuitive, but it is possible that influenza vaccines alter our immune systems non-specifically to increase susceptibility to other infections; this has been observed with DTP and other vaccines. (Benn et al, Trends in Immunology, May 2013) There are other immune mechanisms that might also explain the observation.

There is evidence that influenza vaccines specifically increase the risk of coronavirus infection. Here is why, a phenomenon known as virus interference. Yes, it appears that the flu shot protects against influenza and it appears some other types of viruses as well, but it comes at a price of actually increasing the risk for coronavirus infections. That is exactly what a study that compared the respiratory virus status among 2,880 Department of Defense personnel based on their influenza vaccination status demonstrated. The study concluded, “Vaccine derived virus interference was significantly associated with coronavirus.”1

There is other research that says the opposite, that the flu vaccine may lessen the severity of the effects of Covid 19.

There will always be a miniscule amount of people who have severe reactions to any medication, nuts, toothpaste, anything you can think of.....including vaccinations, be it for Covid19 or anything else.

I think it would make sense if anyone has a history of severe  allergies that they would speak to their Dr before they had the jab, same with pregnant women who are so far advised against it.

None scaremongering, logical advice re the vaccine from the NHS webpage..

Flu vaccine and coronavirus (COVID-19)

Flu vaccination is important because:

  • if you're at higher risk from coronavirus, you're also more at risk of problems from flu
  • if you get flu and coronavirus at the same time, research shows you're more likely to be seriously ill
  • it'll help to reduce pressure on the NHS and social care staff who may be dealing with coronavirus

If you've had COVID-19, it's safe to have the flu vaccine. It'll be effective at helping to prevent flu.

The new Brit made vaccine has been approved. booyah

It is easier to store, we have enough for 50 million people to be double vaccinated, and immunity kicks in faster than the present vaccine.

"Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine approved for use in UK
The coronavirus vaccine designed by scientists at the University of Oxford has been approved for use in the UK, and rollout will begin on 4 January. The UK has ordered 100 million doses from the manufacturer AstraZeneca - enough to vaccinate 50 million people - with the elderly, care home residents and health and care workers being given priority."

Seems like all of the health workers I know have had it. (The shot)

Texas is moving on to the 65 and up crowd which is against the CDC guidelines which want to cut it off at 75 and also include front line workers like the folks that work in grocery stores, even if they are in their teens or twenties.

So many folks here have had it that its getting to the point that I suggested a NYE party just for folks that have had it.

Went out last night for a friend's birthday. Seven of us at the table. 3 of us had already had it, and one has had the first round of the vaccination.

I'm hoping in 2 months we are close to normal. I know it will be this summer before we see this mostly in the rear view mirror.

The bad news for us is as of midnight 3/4 of the country will be in Tier 4, which is more or less lockdown.
The infection rate is almost doubling weekly with the new more virulent strain of the virus, and just under one thousand people have died in the UK in the last 24 hours.

Hospitals are overwhelmed in some parts of the country, with cases in London being transported up to Yorkshire which is in the north of the country to be treated....and in the north some of the hospitals are now at full capacity.

So some good news today re the vaccine, but it's certainly not good news all round.

As for NYE, it'll be just the two of us, eating well and raising a glass to better times in 2021....possibly from summer onwards.

With 981 deaths today we need some good news and as for you two what more do you need?

Tier 4 for us too. Not been out anywhere since before March, so New year will be no different.

Might not even stay up till midnight, I’m usually knackered by 10pm lol

I just wonder what Boris will do about all these celebrities jetting off on holiday this Christmas, that

have broken Tier 4 rules. bored I think these people think they are above the rules.

Great news about the Oxford vaccine.

Just to be precise. Some media outlets mention it but you have to read all the text before you find it. Today's 981 isn't quite a true realistic number.

Over the last week some data lag caused by Christmas across all 4 home nations. Helped create 981. For example Scotland hadn't added any deaths at all for about a week, until today.

The more realistic number is the 7 day rolling average figure. The 7 day rolling average today, is almost exactly the same as the previous 7 days. 0.1% in it.

We'll see what the figure is for the next day or two.
