Some sort of skewed strategy definitely comes into play when the tier system is being decided.
Manchester has been in tier 2/3 for months, eventually our infection and death rates were starting to fall consistently.....then the figures in London started to rise again, amazingly, based on the London situation, the whole of England was then put into lockdown.
All of greater Manchester is now in tier 3 even though some areas have half the infection rate of other boroughs.
Unfortunately that's what happens when London based central government makes decisions for the whole of the country.
Not so sure. Liverpool is getting praise. And are in tier 2. Liverpool is obviously up North. Nowhere near London.
Liverpool was singled out for mass testing, Every citizen was offered the coronavirus test whether they had symptoms or not. Manchester and other northern areas have not yet been offered this.
That's why Liverpool is being hailed as a 'success story'.
Liverpool always seems to get special treatment for everything for some reason.
Maybe it's to calm them down.
Don’t be cheeky, my son lives there and he doesn’t need to be calmed down.

Others have apparently been offered it.
But even if that isn't true. The North/South divide. Clearly isn't there. Otherwise somewhere in the South would have been offered that type of testing first.

Honestly JP, if you really think the N/S divide is a myth, you really don't know what's been happening since this virus started.......but you obviously do know what's going on as you have kept well up to date, which convinces me that you are in fact......a Southerner.
Well I could probably counter that idea as I just did in other ways as well. But I'm not going too. I'm sure you could counter it the other way as well.
Me personally I don't give a stuff where any person comes from. I just care about how they behave.
Me too, but we are not talking about how someone behaves, we are talking about the way they have been treated by the government since the pandemic began.
I know we both agreed that this government did a great job at first, it went downhill re the way the North was treated v the South quite a few weeks ago.
Why didn't somewhere in the South get offered the mass testing lateral flow testing scheme first?
But as I said I'm not getting into the N/S thing any further with you. We'll never agree there.
At least Cummins has gone. It took a woman to see him off.

I think other areas will be offered this test soon Twizzler, as it has worked well in Liverpool it could work well elsewhere.
Obviously the main reason it succeeded was because people took up the offer and followed the rules if they tested positive.

You mean it took him having a pop at Boris's Mrs. If a guy doesn't act on that he's finished. It'll be see ya time.
But some say Carrie is running the show. So it can now be said it's all her fault. :P

There's already 67 areas in England being offered/been offered it. Look it up. I can't do everything for people. :P

Manchester is on it I do recall that.
It was you who first mentioned Liverpool was a Northern city and was not in Tier 3, I pointed out that Liverpool had been the first city to be offered mass testing.
It worked as the figures have gone down so they are now in Tier 2 as opposed to 3.
I don't need to look anything up, I know my facts.
Obviously other places in the UK will NOW be offered the mass testing as the pilot scheme in Liverpool has been successful.
But in spite of all this there is STILL a N/S divide....over and out.

The North/South divide is wider than ever in my opinion.
Everything is this country is based around London, there are mountains of evidence for it both now and historically and nothing anyone says will ever change my opinion on that.
I live in Hull remember - the forgotten city.

Not really according to a recent article on the BBC website. Not when it comes to a covid N/S divide at least... That is what the article is about.
I was surprised to be honest I thought they'd be all over it slating the Government and saying that there is definitely one. Even the BBC surprise from time to time.
Areas in Tier 3 will be offered it after the lockdown ends on Dec2nd. Lancashire (and Stoke I believe) are the two places that should have it now, they haven't though.....unless you can find a link that says it's already up and running.

Do you know what JD, I am beginning to think one would actually have to live in the north to see just how big the divide is...JP is obviously intelligent, yet he is convinced it's a myth of some sort.
Since Covid19 hit the UK, it's become increasingly obvious that things are not getting better, even for a thriving city like Manchester.

I've been talking about a covid specific N/S divide. That divide I'm not so sure about. I've given one or two reasons why I'm not so sure about a so-called N/S covid divide.
Other kinds of N/S divides are more obvious. And can't be denied. Even the Government have admitted to them. These divides have been there for a long time! Deprivation divides and all the rest of it.

67 areas were drawn up and put on a list from around November 10th. There's articles out there stating this. That was the point.
You said that you think areas will be offered this test soon.
Yes, those 67 areas of England drawn up on the 10th including Manchester.
I don't think I said it's actually going on right now.. anywhere else other than Liverpool.
If that's what you thought I was saying. Then I apologise for that.
No problem, that is what you appeared to be saying.
Don't want to throw rank ....... but I have just been speaking to a relative who is Navy Commanding Officer and is heading the Winter Resilience Covid 19 testing team. They are on 24 hour notice of where they will be sent first to start the next mass testing, even they are not sure where they will be sent, so far, as was said only Liverpool has had it.

Yes. Right now that's the case. But that list of 67 areas in England isn't me making anything up. I first saw that info around November 10th. The articles are out there are dated that. I don't bother with links because they don't work for me at present.
Are they heading the whole shebang across the Country?
If you want to stick the below into the google address bar go ahead. You'll see the date November 10th at the top.
I have seen the list of the places that will be offered mass testing.
I know the list was publicised over 2 weeks ago.
So far only Liverpool has had the opportunity to be mass tested...code name Operation Moonshot.
Reading back I dont think you meant it was already in operation elsewhere, it just came across like that to me.
Anyway, I think we are finally in agreement.
