I have seen the list of the places that will be offered mass testing. I know the list was publicised over 2 weeks ago. So far only Liverpool has had the opportunity to be mass tested...code name Operation Moonshot. Reading back I dont think you meant it was already in operation elsewhere, it just came across like that to me. Anyway, I think we are finally in agreement.
Women are well known to keep going and going to a point until they feel the guy has agreed with them.

Well that's one way of looking at it.
The other way is to stick to your point till the opponent sees you are, after all...right..

Some sort of skewed strategy definitely comes into play when the tier system is being decided.
Manchester has been in tier 2/3 for months, eventually our infection and death rates were starting to fall consistently.....then the figures in London started to rise again, amazingly, based on the London situation, the whole of England was then put into lockdown.
All of greater Manchester is now in tier 3 even though some areas have half the infection rate of other boroughs.
Unfortunately that's what happens when London based central government makes decisions for the whole of the country.
Not so sure. Liverpool is getting praise. And are in tier 2. Liverpool is obviously up North. Nowhere near London.
Liverpool was singled out for mass testing, Every citizen was offered the coronavirus test whether they had symptoms or not. Manchester and other northern areas have not yet been offered this.
That's why Liverpool is being hailed as a 'success story'.
Hopefully other areas will get the will get the mass testing as Liverpool has worked!
I think other areas will be offered this test soon Twizzler, as it has worked well in Liverpool it could work well elsewhere.
Obviously the main reason it succeeded was because people took up the offer and followed the rules if they tested positive.
Is Liverpool tier 1 then?
No Tier 2, but that's a step up from Tier 3.
But my area has gone from 1 to 2 and we have very low counts. So looks to me like tiers are as random as everything else in this pandemic
Also to add (if my other post gets through) how come Kent went in tier 1 and came out tier 3? because it's BS. and unless people start calling the BS out its going to get worse.
The tears of a man who lost his business to Lockdown, and who then got arrested for the thoughtcrime of complaining (London protests yesterday).

This photo means nothing without a link to a source.

Hopefully, we will be able to get links today, this was taken by someone at the protest yesterday who had been chatting to this man and no newspaper will publish anything about the other side of the story. Newspapers are using the photo but not telling his story they are just saying protester cries as he is arested. also called the protesters violent, when they were not, the police were though. . there are many videos showing this.
I have also heard people crying, heard the despair in their voices as they talk about long run family businesses that wont be opening their doors again.
Some are barely hanging on, rents, rates etc need to be paid and they haven't been able to trade for months.
Some did open after lockdown only to be closed again when the tier system came into operation.
We have areas in Greater Manchester where the infection rate is low in comparison to other areas, yet all have been bundles into tier 3. I suspect that's happened in many places that will be under the strictest conditions from Wednesday.
The police have had a rotten job to do, expected to police this pandemic, on top of the BLM crowds, and all on top of the normal workload that they were underfunded and understaffed to do in the first place.
Regarding complaints about tiering that are coming from many quarters.
The aim of that is quite clear to me the aim is to get the infection rate as low as possible everywhere before the 23rd. If low infection levels are around from that date. Obviously that will mean there is less chance of large numbers of people catching it, and therefore less chance of a third wave occurring. That's the plan and hope.
Over the weeks the authorities have got the idea that a lot of people do want some kind of Christmas with their family and friends. The sacrifice though is that people will have to endure higher tiers than they may have if Christmas wasn't around the corner.
It is hard to gauge the numbers regarding how many want some kind of Christmas and gatherings. You look and listen to some sources and a lot of people seem to want Christmas get together's. Look elsewhere and many are dead against it.
And I think no one in charge wants to be the leader/s that essentially cancelled Christmas.
We still can't decide exactly what to do about Christmas. No doubt many are struggling to decide what they will do. Then you'll of course those who have already decided they will do it very close to normal regardless. And the people who already say that they aren't going to meet anyone at Christmas.
No easy decisions in 2020 were covid is concerned there never has been. Covid has certainly consumed our thoughts big time.

I very much doubt whether the government really wanted to relax the rules around Christmas, the price will be more infections, more hospital beds filled, and more deaths after Christmas.
I don't think they had much choice though...millions of people will travel, visit family and friends, and ignore social distancing over Christmas.
The government has already said they want the numbers to be as low as possible on the run up to Christmas, hence the stricter tier system.

That's true think I've said that in another post at some point a lot to keep on top of or try too at least. They've said that in so many words. And pretty much directly at times.

Like you, we don't know what to do over Christmas.
I obviously want to see family , on the other hand we have stuck this out for months, a vaccine is round the corner, and I don't want to be one of the ones who fall at the last hurdle....especially as I know 2 people locally who have died of Covid recently.

You seem to be on top of the situation.
Can't decide what to do at Christmas yet though. Where older, and vulnerable people are concerned. To see them or not to see them is the question.

Yes. We are changing our minds pretty much daily right now.
There is a possible option of the people who plan to meet all not mixing with anyone else for around 5 days. Before Christmas Day or whatever. That kinda covers the average incubation period of 2 to 5 days. The problem is some people are due to work right up till Christmas Eve. So can't really hide away from everyone who's outside of their household.

In case you think of this, Syl. Because you are decent at that kind of thing. lol
*I haven't forgotten that asymptomatic's might be around. Incubation period clearly won't matter then. If someone doesn't show any symptoms.
It's still an option though that COULD if feasible work well. Every little way that people can manage to come up with trying to make things safer certainly won't do any harm.

Haha.....I am not looking to pick holes in your reasoning JP, I agree with a lot of what you say.

It's good I'm not bothered if sometimes others fill in a gap. We all learn more, and faster that way.
Also generally speaking the female of the species tend to be great with fine details. Much to the acute annoyance of many men.
