The link below is interesting.

It shows how the vaccine wont be foolproof, but it explains the success rate and how dependent that will be depending on how many people have the jab.

I don't know if this is true, but a fact finder was being interviewed on the BBC and he said that this vaccine hasn't been developed from scratch, a lot of scientific study had already been invested in it long before Covid19 hit. He said it's not unlike the vaccine that had been in development for SARS and other similar viruses. So, it certainly hasn't been as rushed into completion as many are claiming.

He also made the very valid point, just as JP pointed out,  that never in history has so much money, time and effort been dedicated to one scientific project....and that makes perfect sense.

I've recently heard something like that as well. Could have been the same guy even.

How true it is or otherwise. I don't know. Can't be bothered to read up on it all just now. Feeling too lazy. :D

There are many articles online explaining all the reasons as to how the COVID vaccines have been developed so astonishingly quickly should people care to look for them.

Going to be a long time before any healthy under 50s get the vaccine. Let's hope us in that category can all hold out.

It will possibly be next March JP.
Quite a wait for younger people.

The allergic reaction that 2 people had is a slight worry. But there again you can't really cater for that.

I'm sure it will give some people something to moan about. Saying the vaccine isn't ready or something.

It's no ones fault. Clearly people get them with certain foods for example. And there's nothing wrong with those foodstuffs per se.

There will always be a small number of people who have reactions to almost anything....including vaccines.  It is wise though to warn people who have a history of allergic reactions not to have the vaccine.

Yes for sure. They are saying for now if you already are susceptible to get serious reactions to things. And are a carrier of an epipen. Don't have the Pfizer vaccine.

Also pregnant women are warned not to have it.

With any vaccination there is a risk that some people may get a reaction, and this is very new, so better safe than sorry.

I had my first flue jab yesterday, they hand out a highly detailed leaflet explaining everything and the list of possible side effects.

I don't think they did that before?

If not then it must be because of the malign influence of the (usually US) anti-vaxxers on social media and the dire legacy of Wakefield.

I had mine a few weeks ago, and oddly, I was handed the detailed leaflet too, and I never have been before.

Could have been because I had it at Boots this year instead of the surgery.

Mine was at the surgery so it must be reaction to the anti-vaxxers then if you have not seen one before Syl.

Which is a very good idea.

Their cognitive dissonance must be immense when they are confronted with incontrovertible scientific facts.

I have been having the flu vac for many years, probably starting about 20 years ago when I was my mums carer.
I have never been ill with it, apart from this last one, when I had a day of feeling shivery and a bit unwell, it soon passed though.

Almost 3,300 deaths in one day for the US, I just wonder what an anti-vaxxer would take until they considered science instead of ludicrous conspiracy theories by morons?

Likewise Trump losing as most of his supporters are of the above.

Mind you his major base is composed of Evangelical Christians who truly believe some old Jewish bloke (with no contemporary historical evidence whatsoever of his existence) walked on water and rose from the dead 2000 years ago - I despair at this world sometimes.

Give me the Sun God The Aten any day - the  obvious monotheistic origin for all the Abrahamic religions but at least our star truly is the beginning of/and sustains all life.

Akhenaton certainly had a lot to do with 'Yahweh', 'Moses' and 'Yeshua'.

Saul of Tarsus was suffering from Temporal Lobe Epilepsy with his ludicrous delusions and it's hard to believe billions have lived and died under his rules since then - even now in the 21st century.

Rant over.

Its because there has been a huge take up of the flu vax this year  Doesn't make sense that it's because of anti-vaxxers. Those who are anti-vax or believe the anti-vaxxers would not be near the surgery getting a vax to receive the leaflets.

It's a good idea to give more info on what "could" happen and what to look for.  When we get any medication there is always information on it but not for vaccines.

Why have you only just got your first flu vax? for someone so pro-vax I would have thought you would have one every year

When you start taking care of your own health then you can preach to others.  I'm amazed how many who are shit scared of this virus are people who do nothing but shovel crap food and drink down their throats.     I expect you would love others to be forced to have vaccines.

I have family like you,  always going on about anti-vaxxers anti-health and science  and there they are on the sofa all day eating crap, drinking red ball ( they don't drink booze) and eyes glued to games, films or anything else that stops them from living and they preach to me

for every Dr and scientist that is given airtime, there are another 50 who are shut down because they are not bought and paid for.

CUT OUT ALL THE PERSONAL STUFF.
