If anyone deserved to be with his family at the end it's Sir Tom and I am sure all the correct regulations were followed.

I wonder what the troll arseholes on Twitter did for the NHS in the pandemic?

Sweet FA I expect.

So the many thousands that died alone without their families around them weren’t deserving?

.... and what happened to having to isolate when in contact with someone testing positive?

The rules are totally fucked up when it suits!

Okay then.

Some people will always look for negatives, and the internet gives them all the platform.

No one should have had to die without a close family member/s with them.

There should be no reason why when someone is near death, a family member cant be kitted out with ppe, just as the medics and other hospital workers are.

They can be tested and isolate themselves afterwards if need be.

That's the thing, you have no idea what any of them have done in their lives.  Many of those criticising are medical professionals, care workers, people who have not seen their own parents for a year.  No Tom did nothing wrong but then nor did those people who met up at Christmas that you and others here criticised and called idiots.

People in care/retirement homes have not yet been allowed out because it's still considered too risky for them, they are not allowed to even go for a walk to the corner shop.  they have to have their visitors try to talk through a window if they become ill their families have not been able to comfort them or sit with them. they were not able to say final goodbyes, many had to die alone.

I am not criticising Tom but didn't criticise those who grabbed a Christmas with their loved ones either.   I'm not criticising Tom when I say it's unfair that he was allowed family around him, just that everyone should also be allowed that too.

Now we wait and see if Tom gets a huge send off or one the same as everyone else has to have.  I feel a huge send off will be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Thousands died alone.  A 15 year old wasn't allowed his parents in to hold his hand.

I don't think they should've made an exemption in Tom's case tbh.

I don’t get it, why aren’t you calling them “selfish bastards”, “covidiots” and “super spreaders” like you have called everyone else? scratch

I don't see the comparison between families gathering together to enjoy Christmas day and sitting with a loved one as they lie dying, in sterile surroundings and wearing ppe.

I believe hospitals and care homes can make individual appropriate arrangements to enable residents and patients who are at end of life to receive family visits, just as the Bedford have done for Sir Tom. Obviously this has to be done with stringent rules in place.

It's heartbreaking that anyone has had to die alone due to this virus, and I can understand why some people are angry.

Not with Sir Tom and his family, they did what everyone else would have done given the chance. If the hospital has made exception for one man, even a very worthy one, it would be hurtful to others, because everyone is worthy to their loved ones.

But...it has NEVER been a blanket rule that people who are dying of Covid in hospital cant have a close family sit with them at the end, it's always been down to the individual hospital.

The comparison was about Tom going on holiday and others spending Christmas together.      Both the same thing.

You didn't mention the holiday in your post, you were talking about care homes, hospitals, and people not being allowed to be with loved ones at the end.

So explain why people spending Christmas Day with their families quite legally are selfish bastards but flying halfway across the world and back quite legally is somehow ok and and they are not selfish bastards?

You and others had been saying about Tom and his holiday so thought the comparison was obvious, but it seems not.

It wasn't obvious to me, possibly because you added your comment onto posts that were concentrating solely on hospital and care homes and end of life visits.

You know what? You go out for dinner, you go on holiday, you go to the supermarket without a mask...you take your fucking chances. That's what this pandemic is. A game of chance. Heads you die. Tails you live.

Most people are taking this seriously. They're isolating and following all the rules. Those who don't and die...? They made that choice.

Does that mean you think Tom and Family are selfish bastards?
