Alhaji Sesay, 22, trapped the victim in the cubicle in Bristol and tried to rape her.

Sesay, who also played for Bristol City, was arrested after she managed to escape his grip and raise the alarm.

The former Sierra Leone national team player also raped a woman in a London club after forcing his way into her cubicle.

The former goalkeeper has been given a ten-year jail term.

Sesay was convicted of one count of rape and two of attempted rape against two separate women.

He was also found not guilty of a second charge of rape following a trial at Bristol Crown Court.

Sesay joined the Bristol City academy in 2017. He went on to make multiple loan moves to non-league clubs before eventually being released.

At the sentencing hearing today, His Honour Judge Cullum told Sesay he was a rapist and a sexual predator.

He said he used 'a veneer of charm and flirtatious behaviour' to put himself close to women who he perceived to be targets.

He said his actions had significantly affected both victims, with one suffering severe psychological harm.

James Tucker, prosecuting, said Sesay groped a woman's private parts in the female toilets of Bristol nightclub Mbargo on July 11, 2019.

CCTV footage shows the failed footballer walking into the toilets in the nightclub - before turning around to look at the camera.

Having been arrested, interviewed and released, he went on to attempt to rape, and orally rape, a woman at the Hart Lounge in Southgate, London last year.

The first complainant said it felt like she left her own body when Sesay abused her, and she had suffered significant trauma as a result.

Sophie Shotton, defending, said: 'This is a young man whose career is now in tatters. Football has been all he's known from a very young age.

'It was the only career choice because of his limited education.

'He came to the UK with the intention of furthering his education and furthering his career in football and the intention of making his mother proud and supporting her financially.'

Sesay, of Plumstead, London, was charged in connection with the offences in Bristol and London in August 2020.

That bit by his defence.... 'This is a young man whose career is now in tatters. Football has been all he's known from a very young age.

'It was the only career choice because of his limited education.

What? That excuses his behaviour? What a fucking joke.

Ten years custodial sentence which I think it is usual to be cut in half if good behavior, so that makes 5 years.  That seems low to me.

If it was ten years minimum followed by deportation then I think maybe that was about right- unless anyone disagrees with me?  For me the original sentence seems too low.

Well, after all the furore about Sarah Everard, and all the protesting, why has this monster only been given ten years knowing he'll be out in less than five? This is what I mean about how things will never change.

I am someone that would not shy away from considering having a death penalty as well as having penalties that includes castration.  However in todays progressive society such sentences are considered barbaric and no-one seems to be championing such sentences.

Our justice system is such a joke.

This bastard will be out in five years and as for his defence words just fail me, she makes it sound as if he is an innocent young lamb who made a minor mistake like stealing a bag of crisps not a fucking serial sexual rapist and predator who has destroyed several lives.

The judge was a joke as well - what the hell was he thinking?

He should have got a minimum of 25 years.

It sometimes seems that the perpetrator gets more sympathy than the victims.
This excuse for a man will be free when he is 27.

Another sex attacker a couple of days ago was spared jail because he was the breadwinner and had a wife and child.

British justice sometimes stinks.
