As for Sam Smith, he is quite repugnant, imo. He has lost a lot of popularity over here, he puts it down to transphobia and homophobia, in truth, he is just a whining twit.

 I don't really know any of her music,  but I'm aware of her because she is written about on so many news sites. Sorta like Sam Smith. I don't know any of his songs either, but I know who he is..

So I'm predisposed to not really liking her before she sings a note. But I'm also not really a fan of pop music either. 

I love the way the word 'queer' is now so 'woke'. 

I had no idea she was gay...and who cares anyway?

Elton made some brilliant music, the fact he was gay didn't affect his music or his fan base, he earned his reputation on his songs, not his sexuality.

I suppose 6 decades later, he has earned the right to sit in on her Pink Pony Club song mincing around in his pink tassled hat...bless him.

 I don't care if she or anyone is gay. I'm just not really going to be into a gay pop star who dresses like a man in drag, for her image. 

 

But to her defense, I actually know who she is because of it. So I guess it works.
