No one wants oppression, if they did they would be forcing people to have the vaccination...because that's what all this about.
What if oppression saves tens of thousands of lives like it did in China?
I get what you're saying. The UK fucked up by not being more assertive with regards to lock down. They took too long and didn't do enough. We're too soft in this country. That's why we have scores of migrants coming in every day and the levels of violence on our streets. I'd get a fucking water cannon to those clowns gluing themselves to the motorways. Then I'd sling them in jail for six months.
But taking China's lead? That's swinging too far into oppression. We have the weakest leaders in this country we've ever had. People hated Margaret Thatcher. But she had a spine. And she wouldn't have seen our country held to ransom by a bunch of woke idiots.
China saved tens of thousands of lives with their zero tolerance methods.
Was it worth it, or is allowing people freedom, knowing it will raise the death, count a better idea?
China has an appalling record of human rights, and their animal cruelty is off the scale. I wouldn't want that here for all the fucking tea in the place. The reason they were able to control the outbreak is because everyone is held under tight control to the point where the truth is still being hidden. Do you honestly believe that the figures China is giving to the world is the truth? I don't.
2020 was marked by harsh crackdowns on human rights defenders and people perceived to be dissidents, as well as the systematic repression of ethnic minorities. So...what about China? Let's focus on why so many die there because of their 'zero tolerance methods'.

I don't want anything like China, or Australia.
My point is that you get one or the other. Stringent lockdowns and lower death counts, or less stringent lockdowns and probably fewer deaths.
But if you approach this from strictly the position of saving lives, (from Covid anyway) the Chinese are much better than we are at that. If you take my view, that there are things more important than trying to save lives, you wind up with something like Sweden.
It's why I'm not a fan of mandates. It's just another government action that is like China. It's taking away rights to attempt to lower the death count.
And no matter how many different ways it's twisted, in the case of China and it's zero tolerance policy, it is designed to stop the spread of Covid and save lives. Same as the policy in Australia which led to 23 hour lock downs.
It's mandatory in Australia for hospital workers to be vaccinated, as it will be here soon.
The UK could have lessened the infection rate drastically had we closed our borders like Australia did.
The intense long lockdown in Australia may have lessened infections and deaths, but at what cost in other areas? There has to be a middle ground.
Closing borders makes sense, and people don't really have a right to travel to or from any country.
It's bit different when you tell people they can't leave their own homes.
It depends how long it lasts.
In my experience, the first lockdown was a chance for people to destress. Everywhere was calm and peacful, I know loads of people who enjoyed the new way of living, it just lasted too long, and it wasn't consistant.
Tthe lack of human contact, from family and friends, was hard. God knows how people who lived alone, or had no outside space to enjoy coped.
Mental illness, suicide, domestic violence and child abuse figures increased,
.How the Australians have managed so long with their lockdowns I cant imagine.
Not closing the borders was in my opinion the main cause for the high death rate the UK has suffered.
We are an island, stopping people entering and leaving should have been the main priority.
When a school kid has an infectious illness we isolate them at home to stop the spread, let the child mix as normal and the chances are half the class will be infected.
It's just common sense.

Exactly but when does this government us any commonsense!

Well they have yesterday made it official.
Frontline NHS workers will have to be fully jabbed by April 1st 2022 or else face losing their positions.

I am about a month behind my usual online reading but (for example) in the Smithsonian Magazine every time there is a story about COVID, the latest Vaccine news or medical developments some moronic fuckwit inevitably comments that the virus does not exist or that vaccination is all a big evil worldwide conspiracy.
I wonder when the final toll is in (if it ever is) just how many lives these mouth breathing, willfully stupid, selfish idiots will have cost around the world?
It makes you sick.
