When a school kid has an infectious illness we isolate them at home to stop the spread, let the child mix as normal and the chances are half the class will be infected.
It's just common sense.

Exactly but when does this government us any commonsense!

Well they have yesterday made it official.

Frontline NHS workers will have to be fully jabbed by April 1st 2022 or else face losing their positions.

Better late than never.

 Sound urgent.  scruffy

 Guess it isn't.

Your reply was a bit too cryptic for me, what did you mean?

That disgusting fraud Andrew Wakefield - the founder of the the Anti-vaxxer death cult, has not been heard from much recently.

I wonder why?

Probably still counting the millions he has made from all the credulous morons who worship him as a God whilst he watches his new religion poison the world and cause countless fatalities.

It means that if you can wait until next April, how serious is the threat?

The government are giving people the chance to get their first jab, then the second up to 12 weeks later.
As they gave front line carers ample time to get vaccinated, they are giving NHS staff the same.

Plus....I imagine they dont want the NHS to suffer staff shortages over the winter months.

How much time do they need?

If you work in the hospital, there are shots right there in the building. You literally can walk down the hall, roll up your sleeve and get it on the way home.

Why give them months if it's really important?

I notice they backed off on the flu jab requirement. It's OK for medical workers to give patients the flu I guess.

Because the last thing anyone wants is for people to be sacked.

Maybe they are hoping, given an extended warning, people will have time to change their minds and get the jab.

I think the difference with flu is that, unlike COVID, you get ill with it pretty early on. So ill you don't go to work.

That was always my understanding, but Maddog posted a link that contradicted this.

All I know is I have had flu twice in my life, and I felt like I was dying. It took me at least 3 or 4 weeks to get over it.

I don't recall all this fuss or publicity being made about the hepatitis B jab that has been compulsory for some NHS staff to have since 2007.

Mandatory vaccinations are not new for NHS staff, however, as surgeons, and other staff undertaking “exposure-prone” procedures, must have a Hepatitis B vaccine.

Compulsory jabs? Consultation on vaccinations for health staff begins (cityam.com)

COVID gets carrried around by those who don't even know they've got it.

Because back in the day when these vaccinations were first developed people were grateful for them.  There was no social media spreading lies, or idiots with more money than sense wasting their lives spouting shite they read and share from unreliable sources.

I had all my vaccines as a kid and I'm still going strong.

I would bet tthat many of he adults who are refusing the Covid jab, had no hesitation in letting their children have all the childhood vaccinations.

According to the link Maddog posted, just as many people are unaware they have the flu as are people who are unaware they have Covid.

Have to say, that was news to me too.

And the flu will kill hundreds times more people than vaccinated covid victims.

Medical mistakes will kill more people than covid kills, in terms of the vaccinated.

The UK has had less than 500 vaccinated people die from a covid related deaths, and I don't know if any of them caught covid from medical personnel.

And we haven't even mentioned the number of medical personnel running around with natural immunity.

So, if you are vaccinated, you really don't need to spend time worrying about the vaccination status of your nurse. You better hope she doesnt have the flu or gives you medication for the patient a room over.

Sorry Maddog. I think you are wrong.
We now know we don't retain antibodies both from the vaccine or the actual virus for that long, so double jabbed people can certainly be infected from the unvaccinated.
If a person has been vaccinated, at least for a time, they are less likely to catch the virus...so less likely to spread it.

There is a hospital in Preston, that has a Covid ward filled with younger people who have not been vaccinated, and older and vulnerable people whose vaccination has worn off.
No doubt many more hospitals are seeing the same thing.

Because the Antivaxxer death cult had not spread it's evil tentacles all over the world at that time Syl.

This Pandemic has only given a platform for the insane online ramblings and conspiracy theories of millions of nutters and their followers.

If nothing else it just proves how utterly stupid a large percentage of humanity truly is.

So get your boosters and stop worrying about others.

Or do the boosters not work either?

And folks with natural immunity?

They seem to be just fine in spite of predictions to the contrary.

“Some people already have ‘natural immunity’ – that is, immunity from prior COVID infection,” he said in August. “During every month of this pandemic, I’ve had debates with other public researchers about the effectiveness and durability of natural immunity. I’ve been told that natural immunity could fall off a cliff, rendering people susceptible to infection.

“But here we are now, over a year and a half into the clinical experience of observing patients who were infected, and natural immunity is effective and going strong. And that’s because with natural immunity, the body develops antibodies to the entire surface of the virus, not just a spike protein constructed from a vaccine.

“The power of natural immunity was recently affirmed in an Israeli study, which found a 6.7 times greater level of protection among those with natural immunity vs. those with vaccinated immunity,” he said.

In September, Makary shared that there are more than 15 studies that have demonstrated the power of immunity acquired by previously having the virus. He referenced Israel “found that those who had experienced prior infections were 27 times less likely to get a second symptomatic covid infection than those who were vaccinated.”

https://www.clarkcountytoday.com/news/israeli-study-shows-natural-immunity-delivers-13-times-more-protection-than-covid-vaccines/

Dr. Marty Makary is a professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins and is also the editor of Medpagetoday.com. He indicates the evidence shows strong support for natural immunity. He cites over 15 different studies showing natural immunity provides better protection than the vaccines, and therefore should be acknowledged by public health officials.
