I haven't looked into it much to make a decision yet, but it was obvious that after 18 months of the government paying out unexpected benefits, and the huge backlog in the already failing NHS, something would have to be done.

The NHS is failing for lots of reasons. Don't you think it odd that other countries in Europe have better, more efficient care utilising less money, than we do?
One total waste of money is the NHS Head of Equality Inclusion Aishnine Benjamin and many, many others like her.
I read their are ads going out for various 'Diversity' jobs that pay up to £71,000 a year.
Woke Identity politics and pushing Critical Race Theory (whatever the fuck that is although it seems to be a theory that all white people are bigoted scum) have no place in the Health service.
'Dear White people.'
Can you imagine if the situation was revered and it was a white man saying it to black people and not a black woman patronising whites?

Not odd nor surprising.
I hear time and time again about all the red tape that supposedly props up the NHS, too many chiefs, not enough Indians.
If more money was spent in training medical staff instead of paying 3 people to do one job in administration....that would help.
Maybe other countries in Europe spend the budget more wisely.

Like not paying 70 grand a year to pointless and numerous 'diversity' and 'racial awareness' positions and spending it on the patients instead.

We'd never hear the end of it! Racism is out there, but only if you're white! Nothing said about that is there?🙄
This all stems from the more extreme views in America.
We are not the US and this country is and has always been one of the most inclusive and least racist on earth - otherwise why would hundreds a day be crossing the Channel to get here?
Old Whitey is not to blame for everything although that is the narrative being pushed now.

The day after the Prime Minister's announcement, we learned that the NHS is hiring 42 new chief executives on salaries of up to £270,000 a year. Something isn't right when you pay people that much while claiming the NHS is on its financial knees.

It's bloody scandalous.
Damn right it is.
What exactly do these people do for such vast sums?
Does anyone actually know?

They can't be doing fuck all otherwise the system would be working. It's like people just bury their heads in the sand regarding the NHS. They refuse to see it as anything other than a free, saintly edifice to worship, lauding the medical staff with accolades way out of proportion to what they actually do. Yes, they save lives. Yes, it's not an easy job. But it's a job they choose to do. Choose to train for. Nobody drags them kicking and screaming into uni for their nursing or doctor degree. Saving lives is what they signed up for. And when you sign up for a job like that, then it should be because you want to save lives and heal people, not because you want adoration or a massive pay increase.
Nursing is now an elite profession peopled by uni graduates. Gone are the days when anyone could become a nurse, and nursing attracted those who truly wanted to make a difference. The doors weren't closed to them like they are now. You took a competence test, then learned your profession on the hoof overseen by matrons and a strict pecking order. It ran like clockwork. Now, it's fucking shambles.
I've had a row at my doc's. I can't get through on phone, so went there. The rockweiller of a receptionist said you can't book in til 12. This just for a phone call. I said why not I'm here. Well you have to come back at 12, I said I'll wait. Only ten minutes to go. Oh stand outside, you can't stand in here. No one in the waiting room. I had my stick with me, I'm in great pain and waiting for a back op. By the time the new receptionist took over, I went in, explained my pain and said that woman should not be a receptionist, no care, nothing!
When are we going to see a doctor, this is why cancers are missed, no one gets examined anymore. Doctors are using covid to do nothing!
