The day after the Prime Minister's announcement, we learned that the NHS is hiring 42 new chief executives on salaries of up to £270,000 a year. Something isn't right when you pay people that much while claiming the NHS is on its financial knees.

Do you have a link for this ?

I've had a row at my doc's. I can't get through on phone, so went there. The rockweiller of a receptionist said you can't book in til 12. This just for a phone call. I said why not I'm here. Well you have to come back at 12, I said I'll wait. Only ten minutes to go. Oh stand outside, you can't stand in here. No one in the waiting room. I had my stick with me, I'm in great pain and waiting for a back op. By the time the new receptionist took over, I went in, explained my pain and said that woman should not be a receptionist, no care, nothing!

When are we going to see a doctor, this is why cancers are missed, no one gets examined anymore. Doctors are using covid to do nothing!

That's terrible Mags, I am really sorry to hear about your back and hope it gets's sorted soon. :( X

Thanx JD.  It's a long term problem which I have suffered with for years.  It's crumbled and I need spine stenosis, metal plate and screws to hold it.   I can't walk properly so I'm waiting for a date to go in.  My doc said she will email them to try and speed it.up.  It's getting worse all the time.

Oh well there's always someone worse off, so I should be glad it can be.operated on.

I agree with Digger....mither them, you get nothing if you sit patiently and wait.

GP's are absolutely useless now, I think they have spent the last 18 months uploading all their patients onto other services.

For months trying to get in touch with my own surgery  were  met with the message to ring 111 or if it's an emergency to go to A&E.

I did manage to get an appointment for a physio last week. The surgery door was locked, after about 10 minutes of ringing the bell I was admitted, no one else was in the surgery. When I came out (through a different door) another woman was ringing to get in, God knows how long she had been waiting.

Just to add to the incompetency, the physio, (who was brilliant) gave me a form to go for x-rays ..I went up to the local hospital the same day.
There had been a cockup between my surgery and the hospital, who couldn't find the physio's name on the list....even though his details and phone number was on the form, they refused to ring the surgery to confirm he was qualified to refer patients for x-rays. Said it had to be in writing.

I came away without being seen....had to go through the whole rigmarole again days later.  bored

You should say you are a black non-binary dwarf in a burqa who has Oppositional Defiant Disorder (a recently made up excuse for little shits to misbehave) and who is thinking of getting a job as a diversity chief in the NHS.

They would roll out the red carpet.

That would have been difficult, I was talking to them face to face.

What a ridiculous thing they did to you.  All that travelling and  waiting for nothing. How frustrating is that! 😠

I know...par for the course with the NHS service at present.

OH went for routine blood tests last week, the nurse couldn't even get blood from him, no senior nurse or Dr to take over....so HE has to go back again in a week too.

He was waiting 20 minutes for his appointment, no other appointments came or went, just him, sat in the surgery, whilst useless nurse gabbed with the receptionists...more receptionists than medics apparently.

Syl that happened to me. Two nurses at the doctors couldn't get blood out.  They said let's ask the nurse from hospital who is here to take bloods.  Went in, straightaway she found the vein and in.  She said what's their problem, it's easy!  What I want to know is why didn't I see her at the start!

One wonders who trains these nurses that work at GP practices, they don't seem to be able to do the basics.bored
