I am surprised this does not happen more often, we seem to let in anyone at all into the country without checking their backgrounds to see if they pose a threat.
I have no doubt at all that he will turn out to be an Islamic extremist from Al-Shabaab.
What a terrible tragedy for the man's family.

After Jo Cox, I figured there would be security at these events. Heck, Jo Cox wasn't even the first MP stabbed this century.
We tend to be far more open here with elected officials and the the public compared to the US - despite tragedies like this I don't want that to change.

Seems to me you could check for weapons, prior to these meetings.

Or let MPs have swords or some shit.
Or check the backgrounds of fucking scumbags who waltz into this country more carefully - as I predicted the bloke is an Islamic terrorist.
What a surprise.
Not.

The victim was 69, the attacker 25, I doubt arming the MP's would work..
There should definitely be some sort of security check before allowing entry though, the world is getting ever increasingly violent.
I think it's the saddest bit of news this month. I felt really down when I saw it. He stood no chance. They should bring back the death penalty for this.

I want to know more on the the background of this scumbag - no real details have emerged as yet.
Apparently there are over 3000 Islamic fanatics in this country that pose a real and present danger to the public - unfortunately the security services can't keep an eye on them all 24/7.
Personally I am sick and tired of the softly softly approach which has allowed such people to flourish in their communities.

He is a British National so more than likely he was born there.

The sword was sort of a joke.
Although it would be sort of dashing.
Samuel Colt called his handgun the great equalizer for a reason.
Allowing politicians the right to a handgun isn't happening either though.
And while it's unfortunate that it's necessary, it seems that something similar to pre flight screening for a flight may be necessary to see MPs.
Those 40 bazillion cameras are great at catching people, but they don't prevent this stuff if people don't care if they are caught.

Most of the Jihadists who commit atrocities are born here, it should really be looked at as to how they come to despise the country that has allowed them to live in democratic freedom.

Do they despise the country, or the government of that country?
In this case, the guy went after the government and left everyone else alone.
While I won't condone this killing, I've always supported the idea that if you are unhappy with how things are going, leave people and their stuff alone, and go after those in charge.
Unlike the fuckwits that burn or blowup buildings and kill innocent people that aren't responsible for any policies, laws or regulations.

Me too, and I dont even know who David Amess is.
It just seems so horrible that an elderly man who was trying to help his constituents, was targeted and murdered so callously. He set out for work now he will never go home again.
I read the other day that a quarter of scientists who have been dealing with Covid, have been threatened with violence or death...what the hell is this bloody world coming to.

This poor bloke was a lifelong constituency backbencher - he had no interest in power.
Also he had a lifelong interest in animal welfare being one of the few Tories to oppose fox hunting and hare-coursing and was responsible for getting the Protection Against Cruel Tethering Act (1988) passed for Horses and Ponies etc.
The fucker who killed him should be strung up.

I'm not saying he deserved it. Just that we don't know why this lunatic killed him.
He might hate the country he lives in, or he might just hate the government and or Tories.
The guy that killed Jo Cox proclaimed quite a devotion to his country. He just hated lefties in the government.
The nutter who murdered Jo Cox was a white supremacist National front supporter. Same hatred, just a different cause.
We was a nut, but he didn't hate the UK.
I'm fact he loved it in such a weird way that he felt compelled to kill in order to protect.
No doubt he felt about the UK, the way some folks feel about Islam.
But my point is some acts are directed at certain people for a reason. They represent some authority or entity. Then there is something like the Manchester bombing. That was directed at random people to instill terror in society in general.
This nut killed one man, set down, and waited for the cops. He didn't randomly attack people. Makes me think this is more personal.
